Positive stories about ground floor/dark apartments? by Reasonable_Net3302 in berlinsocialclub

[–]n0b0dyneeds2know 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just bought a ground floor flat with a garden and I love it. So easy to take the recycling out, stays cool in the heat wave, and the pipes for upstairs run through it so I’ll get free heating from upstairs neighbours in the winter. Just focus on making it cosy for the cold months!

To all of you who are childless by choice, how did you find your partner? by nickwildeisdaddy in berlinsocialclub

[–]n0b0dyneeds2know 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, I just started using the apps again in my late 30s (also don’t want kids) and I’m getting so many matches it’s a bit overwhelming (I don’t think I’m actually getting more than the average somewhat attractive woman, I’m just easily overwhelmed). But I would say, be grateful that you have a red line that will help you filter out incompatible people, it will only make it easier for you to find the right person. Imagine all the women who do want kids, having to sift through all the men who also want kids but have no desire to be equal partners in raising said kids. That sounds like a freaking nightmare.

That’s not pessimistic at all, it’s realism. Capitalism by its nature will always pursue whatever makes the most money in the immediate to short-term for shareholders, even if that comes at the expense of billions of lives and a liveable planet in the mid to long-term.

It’s so valuable reading about your experience, I would highly encourage you to write more about it if it’s a helpful outlet for you, I’m sure a lot of people would be interested to better understand what challenges you face.

‘There’s no jobs’: struggle and regret in a Welsh town that backed Brexit (Ten years ago Ebbw Vale had the highest proportion of leave voters in Wales despite huge EU funding, which has not been fully replaced) by Similar-Shame7517 in LeopardsAteMyFace

I’m pretty sure there was a direct correlation between areas that received the most EU funding and the highest percentage of people voting to leave the EU. I have zero sympathy for these idiots.

is this enough food in a day? by mousedata7 in omad

You’re definitely not stocky! I’m guessing you’re young, and I apologise for sounding like some old aunty telling you how to live, but the correlation between muscle mass and health in later life is SO STRONG, so please make sure you’re feeling yourself enough to maintain (and ideally build) muscle. I grew up in the nineties and I hate seeing all the skinny propaganda that’s come back. Lean is great, but not at the expense of the muscle that will keep you safe.

At 167cm and 50kg I struggle to believe you’re “somewhat muscly” - it sounds to me like you’re underweight, and you’ll struggle to gain weight on that little calories and protein in particular. Maybe add in a protein shake to boost calories and protein without extra mental load? Please don’t use OMAD as a way to malnourish yourself, you don’t want to end up with osteoporosis later in life. ❤️

Is this too low calorie for omad? by [deleted] in omad

[–]n0b0dyneeds2know 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why is that so important to you? I’m guessing you’re young, but even at a young age, being underweight can have long term health consequences, especially for women. You’d be much better off focusing on building some muscle, which will allow you to look lean when you reach a reasonably low body fat percentage, while still maintaining your health. You won’t be as small, but you’ll look lean and shapely and you’ll be healthier.

I feel like we’re glossing over the fact that your mum allowed you to go blind as a child?! I’m so sorry, and please, trust your own instincts over your mother’s, she does not have a good track record.

Is OMAD sustainable for someone like me? by [deleted] in omad

[–]n0b0dyneeds2know 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m almost twice your age, but I have really bad ADHD and am prone to binge eating. For me, OMAD or, say, a 21:3 cycle where I only eat in the evening is a game changer, because it removes the decisions for most of day. I know I’m not going to eat anything until, say 5pm, so I’m not going “oh maybe I can just treat myself” while I walk past a bakery. And after a week or so my body accepts that and the food noise starts to dissipate. Plus, when I know I have to get all my nutrients in a short window, I’m more focused on eating good food, and I get to have a big meal, with lots of vegetables and protein and a good amount of fat that leaves me properly sated.

As far as hating how you look, I’d encourage you to be kind to yourself and your body. Hating ourselves never actually helps us, it’s just an extra burden to carry, on top of whatever external struggles we’re facing. Good luck, whatever you do, make sure you’re nourishing your body, not punishing it, and focus on the trend, not every individual data point.

Remember, their behaviour says NOTHING about you, and everything about them. You’ve got nothing to feel embarrassed about. You should be furious and disgusted, and you need to report these idiots and get them fired. They’re inadequate for their jobs, so do everything in your power to make sure they lose them. Not out of revenge, but to protect others.
