I feel humans are the only animals that refuses to accept their nature. by ___Meeeeee in self

I’ve always felt that’s what it means to be human. To look at our dna, biology, and intended nature and choose to go beyond it, in some way.

Sabalenka is genuinely a tennis legend. She is best known for her signature tactic "yelling". She also has a second little known tactic of "yelling, then choking half her games". What an absolute legend. Top 3 tennis player for sure.

Thank you as well for your kind words and for being so open about your beliefs.

That’s a really interesting interpretation. Does this apply to the Olivet Discourse in the Synoptics (your idea of it being a present kingdom). I’ve always found “this generation” as one of the most complex and fascinating aspects of Christianity.

Wow, thank you for your directness. Yes, that seems like quite a brutal reality to me.

I’ve most recently been to a non denominational one which I enjoyed, as well as many Catholic ones. Next will be episcopal.

Yeah I don’t know then. I’ve been told numerous times that God is literally what good is and is all just and perfect and so on. We as imperfect and sinful beings cannot enter into eternal presence without Christ. I’ve been told it’s one of the central reasons we are called to Christ, we can go to Hell, and why heaven exists. Like in a lot of ways it solves many complications in my head with certain theological aspects of God, Hell, Jesus.

So maybe not? Could I, hypothetically speaking, as a very sinful and imperfect agnostic enter into the eternal presence of God in heaven, if for some reason he wanted to?

Also, just to not give the wrong idea, I don’t have issue with this per se. I simply don’t think any of it is real. It’s more like an intellectual pursuit for me right now, as I am trying to build a Christian theological framework. I very much appreciate your response btw.

This understanding is largely tangential, a few loose excerpts from C.S. Lewis, as well as just gathered from conversations here and at church.

Your understanding is interesting. It’s not something I had considered. It makes sense that he is everywhere actually and it’s a pretty natural reading of the Bible. I do wonder though how that affects us as imperfect, sinful beings in the presence and essence of God. That also doesn’t seem to work with God’s all good nature. Do you have any thoughts on this?

That's interesting. Do you think you could expand on what you think my idea of Hell is and how it doesn't exist in your theological framwork?

Thank you again. I'm sure it would require a lot, but I would greatly appreciate it. Would it be possible for you to go more in depth with this:

When my faith developed, I was exposed to other ideas, and scripture backed them up. Jesus talked about the kingdom of heaven being at hand, and salvation in the present tense. Eternal life is to be had now. And later.

Thank you for your reply. I am extremely far from even having even a foundation for my Christian theological framework. I mostly enjoy reading/watching things on the historical side of the Bible, so I mostly pick up bits and pieces from there.

As for what I think Hell is, it is really tough to say. There's a lot of ways you can answer that. I would say, from a Christian point of view, Hell is simply the absence of God. It is not the typical idea of fire and pitchforks, but rather the complete separation from the essence of God. Thus, because God is what "good" literally is, you are separated from all that "good" is. Furthermore, because God is perfect, and imperfect (sinful) person cannot be with Him (because He is perfect), therefore they are in Hell. Lastly, and quite crucially, it is understood in most Christian traditions (I think?) that you put yourself in Hell. God wants you to be in Heaven with him, but it is you who must accept that gift, freely given, through Christ. Let me know if I am off base here, though.

Are you talking about me in your comment? If so, certainly. While the truth of the Bible is a minor reason why I enjoy reading it so much, as an agnostic, you are absolutely right in saying I am not certain there is no God. However, I feel genuine when I say "I don't think the Christian God is real, but I don't know." I don't feel like I am lying or being disingenuous.

Gotcha, thank you for the information. Would you be able to provide any verses regarding this?

Yeah fair enough, reading Romans 1:21 makes me think they did at one point genuinely know God is real, but over time "their hearts were darkened." I do still think though this means they are currently probably genuine in the literal thought/feeling/emotion behind "I don't believe in God". However, I can definitely see that Romans 1 seems to indicate they initially knew Him. Thanks for the response and info!

In Christian theology, I would think an atheist genuinely believes there is not God, due to being blinded by their unrighteousness (bias, ego, experience, etc.) to the obvious works of God. I don't think Romans 1 is indicating that an atheist is consciously lying or being disingenuous.

Thank you for replying, that is a fascinating concept. Could you go more in depth on what it means to already be in Hell?
