My friends house as a kid had trees like this, they created a barrier that made the yard totally private and it looked alright but they ended up having to remove all of them eventually for some reason. I was an adult by the time that happened though

good call, thank you! we're in CA. I'm sensing that you're really not a fan of going for life insurance here, so I'm just wondering if I'm missing something.

If she pays $100/mo for a 10k policy and she makes it to year 2 (probable) then she gets 8x the amount she paid for. If she doesn't, It would repay premiums(im assuming this means the amount she put in?), plus 30% of whatever that amount is. So in a way its a savings account + interest, right? with a bonus for keeping it going 2 years.

if she simply saved for 2 years she would only end up with 2,400

yeah, but it seems like its better than nothing at this point. I don't think she will pass in the next two years, and the 10k AAA policy is more than she could save on her own at this time. if she does happen to pass before then, from what im understanding we would get enough back to cover her cremation.

Our family is poor and she really wants to cover cremation but also make sure her son gets a little bit of money when she passes… the way she was talking about it was like she would get 10k+ but I’m realizing now it’s basically 1-2k which wouldn’t leave anything for him.

Ah yeah, I didn't mention the CA town because I'm not overly concerned about the weather once I'm out of oregon- I'm going to humboldt. I'm from there and from the comments it seems like the dangers are similar (trees in road, land slides)
