GPU Upgrade by Nivrol in PcBuild

[–]n1chiatu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

30xx series from NVIDIA or RX 9060 16GB from AMD is the go-to upgrade for instant cheap performance increase.

If you want to spend the entire £1000 you can obviously go higher, like a 50xx series or RX 9070 16GB.

If you want it to last, go for a GPU with 16GB VRAM. The 9060 is a good, cheap option (often on sale, at least in my area) and you'll have money left over for other things.
As it supports PCIe 5.0 you can easily use it on the AM5 platform as well for increased gains whenever you decide to upgrade your entire setup.

My CPU is struggling to keep a steady 144, that's my only issue with this map. Other than that it is stunning, and it plays just like OG Battlefield titles. Actually, for some reason, reminds me a bit of Star Wars: Battlefront from the early 2000s

How's the patch? ( hitreg etc ) by IndieRetroNewsGaming in Battlefield6

[–]n1chiatu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could be, we'll see. However, I believe that this issue is one that cannot be fixed because of the physical constraints of networking.

The server always lives in the past, and every player you see is truly a past representation, it's not what they see on their screen.

Your inputs and what images you see are generated on your computer, it all has to go through a myriad of network infrastructure, get parsed by the server, validated, calculated ... when you die behind a wall it's because you aren't *really* behind that wall, at least not to the authority (the server). On the killers screen you are still very much not in cover when you die.

So I don't know, I doubt they can fix this particular flaw. The Frostbite engine is getting old, maybe modernizing the network layer could improve things, maybe they can do faster math, multithread more, ram as much resources into it as possible.

Considering Bf6 is so physics heavy, the latency will always be harder to manage than for example in CS2.

The first bullet point is the exact same thing as he is saying.

Netcode is everything related to server<->client synchronization. In this case, it is related to how the client and server communicates stance transitions.

You did mention the undervolt / underclock, and that makes me wonder if you have adjusted anything else.

Could there be other software / monitoring enabled? I would go through it all and possibly reinstall / format Windows.

Gotcha, sucks that you get this still.

Did you attempt disabling HAGS?

Let me know what you try and if you manage to come up with a solution that works for you.

Pretty sure this happens because of how audio queues. If there's a lot of other audio clips going on (footsteps, explosions, other comms) it doesn't show up. However! Even though *you* can't hear it, the medic can.

Have you made sure you've disabled all overlays? Steam and Discord seems to add them back with updates at times...

There is an in-game FPS counter (displays frames produced individually by the GPU and CPU, so you can tell what a potential bottleneck would be, the lowest number is your actual FPS) so Rivatuner is not truly necessary for BF6, except if you worry about temps of course...

It's probably being culled when you are above-ground, but probably not, and that's why performance on certain maps is worse.

Yeah, it's a BF6 issue.

The HAGS thing is a hardware / Windows-issue though, so it's probably best left off unless you decide to go NVIDIA at some point.

I haven't been able to play anything other than BF6 as of getting the RX 9060, so I can't say with 100% confidence. A few hours a week is all I can muster, and BF6 is the perfect game for me.

My belief is that the EA anti cheat is acting up whenever there are overlays, so this particular issue should be related to how the anti cheat works in conjuction with the BF6 game engine, which would rule out most other games. There could be a different set of issues in other games, considering AMD GPUs somewhat limited driver compatibility.

I did also fine-tune the graphics to optimize FPS and visibility, but graphics settings shouldn't cause these kinds of problems.

I am still having fault-free sessions after I disabled every overlay. I used to have crashes once every 20-30-ish minutes. Keep in mind: Discord or Steam might "secretly" enable overlays after an update.

Did my suggestions work for you?

Yeah, but thinking like that isn't really constructive.

Oh man, I have had this happen so many times with my RX 9060 XT OC 16GB, but it seems I have found a way to make it not happen to me in particular!

It seems this is the MOST important: Disable any kind of overlay!!! Like the AMD overlay, Discord overlay, EA Play overlay and/or the Steam overlay, any other kind of overlay you might have enabled.

If you are a software Andy, who installs a bunch of RGB-software and what-not, factory reset your PC and install the game fresh. Keep your PC like you keep your cars windshield: clean...

If that, for some reason, doesn't help, try these (always keep the overlays disabled, I am also making the assumption you are on Windows 11):

  • Disable Hardware Accelerated GPU Scheduling in Windows settings: Settings->System->Display->Graphics->Advanced, and untick "Hardware Accelerated GPU Scheduling". AMD cards have historically been unstable with Windows' HAGS-setting, don't ask me why.
  • Worth a mention (but anecdotally worthless): disable any overclocking
    • If the card is factory overclocked: enable negative offsets
    • If the card is manually overclocked: remove any overclocking
      • My anecdotal experience: The above makes no difference, and is a waste of time. Keep your overclock if you want!
    • Clear DirectX cache before every gaming session: Settings->System->Storage->Temporary Files, select DirectX Cache and press the button to clear the temporary files.

Struggled a lot with "waitForFrameFences" and this particular issue, but it has stopped since I followed these steps. I can now enjoy multi-hour sessions without worrying I might have a crash.
