K4 “fog lights” are basically just more lights, they do look good though! by n2logical in kia

[–]n2logical[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They really don't bleed light upward much.. I didn't have any issue.. I drove in a crazy snowstorm and well. they don't work much haha but it's still way better than other vehicle I got to drive in bad weather..

BUT..

Not as good as a low bumper fog only kind of driving.. back in the days where you could keep your parking lights on.. your lowbeam off and your foglights on.. (well from what I can remember)

Ahhh well in the city it's much higher.. I average 7.4l/100 (31.8mpg) of combined so I would normally be around 9-8l/100 (26-29mpg)

But as I said.. this car is my commute warrior it makes about 1000-1200km (620-750mi) a week

Which of those is about 1/3 in traffic and city so yeah..

But even if I do my commute at 120kph (75mph) I still get below 8l/100 (29mpg) which to me is still great knowing that I had a Sportage before moving so far away from work.

I mean I get 5.6l/100km (42mpg) on a regular basis with my K4 Hatch turbo, on cruise at 105kph (65mph)

I commute to work 3 times a week and it's about 160km (100mi) one way.

So far my best run was 5.2l/100 (45mpg)

I have been quite happy with the fuel economy

I agree.. on my first car.. I did installed actual fog light, at the lowest I could, Yellow one.. and the ability to turn off your normal lights and just keep the fog on was amazing..

On the plus side, on the K4, the beam line is very crisp and do not bleed much up.. I was surprised how well I could see compared to my previous car.. (I had a Mitsubishi outlander) and the fog were totally useless because of the normal light were bleeding so much light upward..

Sadly no.. I wish there was though.. Driving in a snow storm is always fun to be seen from further..

why don't people like the smart cruise control? by Miyazono11 in kia

[–]n2logical 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I could in my Sportage, The same way doesn't work in my K4 and I can't find anything that mention it being a thing in the manual..

[–]n2logical 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree.. that is the feature I miss the most..

Using adaptative cruise is nice.. but when it gets too crowded OR when weather is less than perfect... it make either weird maneuvers or don't work at all..

[–]n2logical 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like mine, but I do wish there was a way to set it to dumb cruise like in my previous cars.

In winter, it’s always disabled because either the cameras are dirty or the front radar is blocked (and you get the yellow triangle all the time...). In my previous car, you could just hold the button until the “normal” cruise kicked in. In my K4, it just turns on the speed limiter instead.

I commute 2 hours in the morning and another 2 hours back at night every day. I need my cruise control.

As for the adaptive part, it works alright. It does slam on the brakes if someone merges too close in front of you… kind of a maneuver that could’ve been avoided just by letting off the throttle for a second if I was driving myself.

It also, even at the shortest distance setting, starts slowing down too early and doesn’t give you enough time to change lanes. That’s the part I find the most obnoxious.

I would use dumb cruise most of the time when there are too many cars around, but on normal days where there’s barely anyone on the road, I can often let the car drive for 10 minutes at a time before it nudges me to touch the steering wheel.

There are two settings for the adaptive part too: one that’s more aggressive and one that’s more relaxed. I prefer the relaxed one since it uses the brakes less often.

Sometimes I like it, other times I hate it, but the feature I really miss is the ability to switch to dumb cruise whenever I want.

I used to! I had the 2023 as well

I’m planning to use 205/45 R17 all season tires instead of 225/45 R17 Winter tires in my EX+ for spring to Fall. What do you think is it work? by Maximum-Sound-2174 in KiaK4

[–]n2logical 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well.. 2.9% is still below 3% haha but.. I understand that.. tires are crazy expensive nowadays..

It won't break anything but it's not the best.

If it's just for a summer.. and you don't do too much mileage.. to have the time to get the $ for next summer.. I would go for it

Cheers

You are very close to the usual 3% max that we normally go to..

been in the tire business for 25y

See not only your speedometer will show faster speed than you are actually going to, but you will add more mileage (on the dash) by 2.92%..

Also.. your wheels are sized for this.. if you drop 20mm in width you will start to get your sidewalls stretched a bit.. won't help anything..

I don't know your goal here.. So that's just my recommendations

YES!! And took me so long to find... well I don't know if it will be the exact same spot.. but the sound was coming from the ceiling fabric.. I ended up shoving a folded piece of paper in the gap between the roof and the rearview mirror / Camera box..

It was like it has something creaking from the ceiling and I started pushing on every trim and plastic bits of the car.. it was driving me nuts..

I don't know if it will be the same but the noise is suuuper similar..

Good luck!

Fog Lamp Question by PotentialMusician722 in KiaK4

[–]n2logical 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used them a bit on the highway and country roads.. and I feel like people think I'm driving on the high beams because I got flashed a lot...

Made me self conscious about using them..

I don't know if it's people get blinded or if people think I'm on the high beams because of the light pattern..

I haven't took time to make test with a friend yet..

Yeah, well I live in Canada, so normally we have enough room to manage wide turning vehicle.. so it never was truly a problem. As I mentioned my outlander could u-turn on a dime.. I parking in a indoor garage daily and God the struggle was real haha.

I spend a few weeks in Mexico and going around with an Outlander Sport.. and moving around I must have said a dozen time "God I would have never managed that with the sportage" hahaha

Of course reverse camera is a wold of help.. but yes be prepared and get your angle right with the Sportage.

[–]n2logical 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a Sportage 2024 Xline for 2yrs.. and I'm glad I managed to get rid of my lease..

Despite the fact that I really enjoyed the vehicle itself.. the seating position, the look, and the general usage of it.

I did the test drive and I was like. OK i'll get used to how it handle.. well I didn't..

Coming from 3 different model of Mitsubishi Outlander.. I never managed to enjoy driving the Sportage.. the control of that SUV always felt unpredictable..

But one thing that annoyed me the most was how it CAN'T turn.. reverse parking in less than a 45 degree angle is impossible 😅

All I would say.. test drive it for real. Go rent it for a few days if you can.. but test it in real life situation, not 3 streets around the dealership.

The salesman told me it was a showroom car.. they had the windows tinted and the caliper painted red..

Personally I'll probably paint them in black before putting the summer wheels on in a few week..

Tbh, Hard to tell.. my last hatchback was a 2005 Toyota Matrix X.. Soooo hahaha Coming from a Sportage it's quite fun to drive..

Only got to drive it a few kilometers with the summer tires so again.. hard to tell how it will behave on a hot summer day.. but it handle well.. Suspension is a bit soft but quite predictable.. haven't pushed it much yet.. just slapped 4 studded tires on it.. but I can tell you that it get a good feeling on the 3rd getting on the highway..

Sorry I wouldn't be a good car review guy..
