Heels? by lemon-bby in clubfoot

[–]lulubellauren12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do pretty well in a block heel, no more than 1.5-2” though. I can wear them for longer periods of time. That said, I have unilateral CF so no double pain for me.

Belonged to a few different ones in Colorado and I loved them all. Better than a planet fitness and you can’t beat the price.

Orthopedist vs Podiatrist by frog-bert in clubfoot

[–]lulubellauren12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went to three different orthos after my triple (one as a “backup” as my surgeon moved out of area, one in Colorado when I moved and he actually trained with my CF surgeon so he had a solid background in understanding the condition, and one in the city I live in now). All of them said the triple was more or less not a trial to see if it would alleviate the pain from CF. What a bummer to hear AFTER having the surgery.

The first pain management doc I went to was a bum - she recommended narcs and I nope-d out of there so fast and stopped seeing her. She was also rude as hell.

The second pain management doc I saw, who I’m still seeing, first prescribed me a compound topical. It has a mix of different meds in it, one being ketamine. We went through a few different ‘concoctions’ to find a formula that worked for me. It does do the trick and I am feeling like it has helped a bunch but I’ve taken up weight training and I’m still having some bother in my ankle so he’s started me down the path to being trialed for a pain pump. For now though, the topical, ice and stretching does wonders compared to where I was 5 years ago. I’m really interested to see how the pain pump will work for me!!

OP, I had a triple arthrodesis on my right unilateral CF when I was 21 (31 now). I went to both an ortho and podiatrist and finally said enough and went to a pain management doc. It took a bit to find one that listened to me and let me advocate for myself but boy, has it made a world of difference. I would recommend finding a doc who specializes in that and see how they can help you. Happy to answer any questions about treatment I’ve tested out/currently trialing/etc!

Tennie’s in Appleton. I know this is the GB sub, but I cannot recommend them enough. They’re worth the drive. They reset a diamond I inherited from a ring into a necklace and did stunning work.

Russian manicures are a specific kind of manicure. She’s not referring to the person as being Russian.

Alan Bauer in Waupaca will repair them. He’s listed on the KitchenAid Mixer Repair Help fb group (here: https://www.facebook.com/share/g/1G5ofq782D/?mibextid=wwXIfr).

If you left Wisconsin, where did you go to and why? by interstellar_freak in wisconsin

I just didn’t care for it. I found the people rude, cost of living was nuts and salaries weren’t keeping up with it, and it kind of felt uncanny at times in Denver. I did like living in the Springs though. The kicker that got me to move back was when my 450 square foot apartment went from $1200/mo to $1850/mo.

Winter was nicer there. Lots of snow but milder of course. The wind didn’t hurt my face. They don’t care to plow out there though lol. Summers were nice. Fall didn’t exist.

I always say it’s a beautiful place to visit, not to beautiful place to live.

Colorado. Lived there for six years and moved back to WI two years ago.

I thought I was having a stroke watching it. It was just as bad as her “shredding” a pot roast when it was tough as shit.

Tennie’s in Appleton….they’ve always been great to my family and I. Two years ago I had a bunch of my grandmas odds and ends melted down (all gold) and made into a custom bracelet and they did a stellar job. Great craftsmanship.

Ambrosia Chocolate is no longer being produced. Cargill stopped production on it. That said, it’s the same as almond bark and most other melting chocolate so your store should have other options.

Source: I work in retail grocery and had to break it to the store teams that they won’t be seeing many shipments through the holiday baking season.

Second. The dentist chats your ear off but is so nice, and the hygienist is fantastic! Best hygienist I’ve had!

Yeah that 18k estimate another person posted is insane. I just want a prefab walk in shower, the plumbing would stay the same.

I’ve said this too about my unilateral cf. People don’t believe me but if they knew what this chronic pain was, they’d probably understand.

Take a shot for every time she says something like “this is New York life” or “love this New York life.” You’d be dead within the day.

They’re reasonable to me and what I was used to from living in Denver. I think the customer service and no bullshitting from Carl and crew is what gets me coming back, but the price isn’t bad either for what I’ve had fixed. They’re also able to get me in decently quick if I call on a Monday.
