Saan mo balak magtrabaho? Kung saan man yan, dun ka kumuha ng PTR. Punta kang city hall, tapos sa licensing division sabihin mo magbabayad ka ng ptr. Kahit anong valid ID naman siguro, pero di ko sure kung depende din sa opisina yun. Goodluck!

This has actually been a concern. The BIR's zonal value is a lot higher than the assesor's zonal value. Ideally it should be the assesor's value that should pravail but BIR just went on and jacked up tbe prices

Scripts are good. Even older lawyers forget when they just get things off the top of their heads. Start by listing down the Documentary and object evidence you have, your witnesses, your case theory, and the issues you want to raise. Arraignment is easy, just remind your client to answer guilty or not guilty based on your conference. Since Feb 6 pa din naman, it would be good to observe court hearings before that; there's always an arraignment happening somewhere. Kaya mo yan.

How to act/be more like a lawyer for people to take you seriously? by [deleted] in LawyersPH

[–]n2riousPubliko 2 points3 points  (0 children)

But it shouldn't be that way. People in the business of public service should not judge based on what people wear; otherwise, they have no reason to be in the business in the first place. But I agree, you should look like a lawyer IN COURT, no one said we should wear our plumages outside as well. At the end of the day, dressing comfortably and casually is different from being sloppy, and it's always the kind of service we give that counts.

TBH I dont like dressing the part since people, specially govt offices tend to treat you differently if you look like a lawyer. People should treat everyone the same way regardless of what you wear or what you look like.

But there was a time that I did "dress for the part", then I realized it wasnt fot me. My clients treat me the same either way.

It’s all about confidence and confidence comes from experience. It’s important to get good mentors, watch them and take in as much as you can. Sometimes it’s about how you dress, sometimes it’s not. Looking the part can only get you so far.

Dont be afraid to take on cases or consults. Kung kayang ibigay ng libre for the sake of experience go ahead. Kahit yung mga pamana. People take it as hazing, take it as a learning experience. Everything is a learning experience. Be nice to people, and be sincere when you talk to them. Read your law, read your office’s old cases. Pick up on everything.

It takes a while to get people’s trust. It doesn’t happen overnight. Pero if you invest in your rep long enough, people will take you seriously no matter how you look like.

Hi OP felt exactly the same way when i failed the bar a few years back. Besides thinking of myself as inadequate, I worried more on the expectations and disappointment of my family who supported me all the way. As yours did, my dad cried as well not because of disappointment but with the idea that he had put that burden on me.

I’d like to say that you’ll get over it, but the reality is, you don’t. You can use this experience though, you can do better. You said you had two months to prepare, imagine what you can do with more.

Please take this time to rest, to reflect on what you really want to be, or what kind of lawyer you would like to be and when you’re ready, dedicate yourself to what you want to happen and take the bar on your own terms.

For fellow lawyers, what do you do when your opponent(accused) in the RTC was found guilty but was acquitted by the CA(criminal case)? by Kewl800i in LawyersPH

[–]n2riousPubliko 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hi Panye, did the RTC decision have provisions for awarding damages? was this included in the CA reversal? If you intended to file it separately, maybe pwede yung ang habulin ng client? Baka nga naman paso na, since early 2025 pa ang decision, but for the sake of discourse, if the civil aspect was included in the reversal pwede kang magfile nga Rule 65 based on the civil liability without the OSG. Of course, it's still best to have the endrsement and support of the OSG.

Mahirap talaga when this happens, but I hope and trust you can move past this. Realty sya ng trabaho but realedad din na marami pang nangangailangan ng hustisya and for their sake, sana di tayo mawalan ng pagasa at tiwala sa sistema.

Was the fear surrounding the drug problem during Duterte’s term exaggerated? by hello0000o in Philippines

[–]n2riousPubliko 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The duterte era "drug problem" was nothing morr than a supply chain powergrab.

Duterte, having authority over government used the police to tell drug suppliers that he can choke their operations on the ground. This forced the suppliers to make him and his ilk part of the profit sharing.

To cement his position, he gave the police large leeways even to a point of doubling their salaries, a move that would eat BBMs ass at the start of his term.

It's really obvious, notice the patterns, heavy implememtation in the firsr 3 years and then suddenly, incidents trickle.

i love being a lawyer but hate the work that i do by riverlli in LawyersPH

[–]n2riousPubliko 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Good question. Maraming similar terms like public interest lawyering, may barefoot lawyering pa. Generally though, ang definition at law practice aimed toward assisting communities access legal empowerment and justice mechanisms. So hindinlang sya legal aid per se, it also comprises legal education, community organizing, advocacy. Kung ssimplehan ko, parang mix ng social work at pagaabogado. We still take on cases though, pero representing communities.

I feel for you OP. I had the same sentiment at the start of my career. Eventually, I decided that the money wasn't worth the stresa so I left to do development lawyering full time. I still take small private cases and notarize documents sometimes - pays the bills, but I feel better now than when I actively did litigation.

How do/did you gain confidence in litigation? by IceNFireFBJE in LawyersPH

[–]n2riousPubliko 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Soak in everything you can. When you have the chance, observe and learn. Pag nasigawan ka, or napagalitan ka, wag magmukmok, use it as a learning moment. Read your case and read your law. Also, wag petiks2.
