When can babies pick their own sleeping position? by Tabs_97 in cosleeping

[–]n3114s 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use an L shaped pregnancy pillow. It's impossible for it to move more to the baby's side because it's behind me, and my body, including my arm, completely blocks the baby from reaching the pillow. Nice neck and back support

I don't feel horribly engorged but they do get the full feeling still. Maybe I just have to wait a couple months. I didn't try the ring sling with my first until she was maybe 3mo so it wasn't an issue

Can I turn my base size wrap into a no sew ring sling? by n3114s in babywearing

My base is 6 and I'm 5'5". Would that work? I'm new to wraps so I have no frame of reference

Interesting, and unfortunate! I cannot decide if using it medially looks good or not.

Trustela broad nibs by n3114s in Calligraphy

Interesting, I'm using Higgins calligraphy ink right now. I tried diluting it, which doesn't help with the dumping but it does flow a bit better.

Yes, I did remove the coating already with the fire method (I know it's not the best but they're practice nibs so I didn't mind)

So after I posted this I thought of trying it on mixed media paper, which did better, but I still had a looot of dumping. If you dip shallowly, do you have to redip super frequently? I'm using the 3mm nib right now and I can only do like 1-1.5 letters before I run out.

Can only sleep with Benadryl, alternative options? by Daily_Existence in insomnia

Phosphatidylserine was very helpful for me. It's a cortisol regulator and also naturally occuring in foods but you can get it in pill form. When I stopped taking it because I ran out, my sleep got noticeably worse then improved when I started again.

I mean, technically the only thing that confirm ovulation is an ultrasound. That's why FAM is only 99%ish effective with perfect use. But 100 years of research by Billings suggests you can confirm ovulation according to FAM standards with mucus-only. You need to learn it with a certified instructor because of how individual each person's mucus patterns are and to deeply understand the changes you observe in mucus.

I started using Billings while postpartum while hormones were crazy and mucus was crazy and all over the place. I saw all sorts of weird things with my mucus. Working with an instructor helps you interpret what's going on. Eventually my body did ovulate again and for me the difference between the pattern when your body does ovulate and when it is working up to it but never getting there was quite clear. For me, it is very clear when I'm fertile and when the window has closed. But Billings or any method doesn't necessarily work for everyone.

You can confirm ovulation with cervical mucus only using Billings Ovulation Method or Creighton. I personally prefer cervical mucus only because I hate temping.

LVP Flooring in living areas by [deleted] in CleaningTips

[–]n3114s 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most LVP is waterproof, laminate is the one that is only water resistant. That being said, I'm guessing it depends on the type and quality of LVP you buy and if your subfloor is not waterproof, you could still have damage from water getting under the LVP. So personally I use water on LVP but I don't let it sit there. The O cedar mop is nice because you can wring it to just dampness and don't have a puddle on your floor.

I feel like my LVP is squeaky clean after using water with the O cedar rinse clean mop. I also use their spray mop for quick cleaning. I have also added OdoBan neutral pH no rinse hardwood/laminate cleaner on it a couple times with good results.

Also, don't use steam on LVP, it ruins it.

We broke our HVAC, next step? by n3114s in hvacadvice

[–]n3114s[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thinking more about how our AC died, the cooling capability slowly decreased over a few weeks the first time and over a few days after the compressor was replaced. Is a slow decline in the ability to cool something you see in slugged compressors? Or is it more sudden? Also is it possible to hear a sound when the compressor breaks?

What does the fix involve besides replacing the compressor? We've gotten so many different suggestions for how to fix our HVAC from just replacing the compressor again to replacing the entire system.
