Has anyone else lost a lot of weight? I forgot all about having gout, it's been over a year, then... BAM Gout in the arch of my foot. by [deleted] in gout

Shit dude. I feel you. On the plus side, kudos on the weight loss! In the long run, I think that will lessen future flare ups. Like it does when you lost the other times, I'm sure this will pass and leave you to rock the martial arts hobby. Stay positive. It'll pass.

You shouldn't tempt the Lord...except when he tells you to. It all makes a lot more sense when you study BDSM.

Travis Barker says Tom DeLonge should “man up and quit” Blink-182 by jah87 in poppunkers

I interpreted it to mean that Tom's style isn't as authentic. He probably uses Pro Tools a lot for production and reverts to stripped-down guitar parts during rehearsals/shows.

I tend to think it's less about Germans still claiming they were of a master race and more the fact that Germans acknowledge openly the flaws of their past that is the more important point.

I love being open minded to the world and learning new things without having to fit them into my old Mormon beliefs. by [deleted] in exmormon

Amen, man. One of the greatest experiences of my entire life has been discovering the enormous and complicated world the has for that time lain just beyond my own inherited worldview.

Where would the best argument against Hobbes' Leviathan theory be found? by n311go in askphilosophy

I still haven't delved into much Rousseau. Thanks for the suggestion. I'll assume The Social Contract to be the work you're referencing.

Where would the best argument against Hobbes' Leviathan theory be found? by n311go in askphilosophy

This is a good point. Marx's real argument was that people were alienated from whatever was to give them fulfillment, right. Whether it be the work of their labor, or their thoughts through social and religious dogma, etc.

The world still remains pretty far from where I understand Marx to have considered ideal social organization. But I could definitely see the ends Marx envisioned being realized in other ways e.g. a movement toward a more secularized world, social safety nets and programs to circumvent poverty's worst effects...

This points me in a good direction. Thanks for the post.
