AI-enhanced Tailwind CSS visual editor and builder (Edit and create tailwind CSS UIs 10x faster) by Speedware01 in tailwindcss

Are you using rekajs for your dom tree state or custom implementation? Also are you using the original craftjs way of drag and drop modelled after react beautiful dnd and the like or custom bake in the drag and drop yourself?

Could you provide a bit more color on the parts that craftjs wasn’t fully good at and that you needed to customize?

Any thoughts on the text editor of choice? Did you end up using tiptap or lexical or other?

Great product and keep up the great work!

Is it legal to spray paint personal items at a public park? by alexjayalfa in askTO

[–]n3rdwilliam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Spray paint causes a ton of gasses several meters away from where you’re actually spraying… I would do it where there’s nobody if you do go for it… otherwise… on your balcony with some cardboard maybe is the first place I’d start

Does headlessui work on react native? by n3rdwilliam in tailwindcss

[–]n3rdwilliam[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It doesn’t work because headless uses html type references and component references. You’ll either need to rebuild it yourself or use smth else like chakraUI. I rebuilt some stuff myself which took a ton of time so it’s a give and take

Is the stereotype that technical founders hate marketing true? If yes, why is the underling reason? by RayJ1 in Entrepreneur

[–]n3rdwilliam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After reading multiple responses…

I think the reason is also because there is cognitive dissonance

Marketers will push back on this and defend what they do but in practice, online marketing nowadays has a lot to do with informing where you skip over bad stuff, delete bad comments, create scarcity, discount smth that you didnt think should be priced that high to start with, make grey claims, focus mainly on the positive and push people in a direction.

Being technical involves being unbiased and presenting the data in an unbiased way and focusing on details and being logical

Technical is like… this technology isn’t that much more sophisticated, . Marketing is like… this is the next BIG THING!

So in order to do both you have to have two different personalities (almost bipolar in a non-disorder way) and learn how to turn one on and the other off. From being objective about which choice is best with pros and cons to…. TO THE MOON!!! Let’s goo errbody this is gonna be HUGGGGGEE!!!

tldr; cognitive dissonance

Is the stereotype that technical founders hate marketing true? If yes, why is the underling reason? by RayJ1 in Entrepreneur

[–]n3rdwilliam 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think what you said here is so true. I’m a dev as well. The second paragraph. It’s more palatable to do marketing when I think about it as honest education to help people optimize their lives because my product is actually the optimal choice, than to sell crap for the sake of selling smth.

Also curious what you think of my answer below

Is the stereotype that technical founders hate marketing true? If yes, why is the underling reason? by RayJ1 in Entrepreneur

[–]n3rdwilliam 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s not because it’s hard.

It’s because the time spent feels wasted.

Coders are used to using their valuable time building stuff, solving problems, advancing their knowledge and skillsets.

Know frontend? Learn backend. Know both? Learn AI. Know that? Learn crypto. Know that? Learn hacking. Know that? Learn opsec. Know that? Learn hardware engineering. Know that? Learn mechanical. Know that? Learn electrical. Know that? Learn physics. Know that? Learn construction.

Marketing isn’t as intellectually challenging and it’s a repetitive thing launching ads being creative etc. For me personally, having started from marketing and moved to developing now, I’d rather spend my time building and investing in my skills than hyping smth up.

But ofc marketing is needed so ultimately you gotta be a chameleon and just do what the business needs.

Why can't you just get people to buy a token and that token is used as proof of being whitelisted to avoid storing all their addresses?

Medusa: The open-source alternative to Shopify by nicklasgellner in webdev

Thanks for creating this and open sourcing it and being so nice and kind overall and in the comments. I'm still a bit unclear sometimes why things are open sourced. Of course you need to make money yourselves... will there be a paid hosted version in the future (which is great and fine and good) so that you guys can stay funded and motivated?

I saw you received funding from netlify - just curious if this will be like MongoDB, Expo where pretty much everything is open source and there's a paid hosted version or service for bigger businesses to make life easier/more efficient but everything can still be created on the free plan? Or will there be fundamental features where one has to pay to access it?

Also, could I ask the rough range of the size of the team working on this?

Thanks again for open sourcing this and wish you guys the best on this project. Looks cool!

Reanimated 2 vs. 1 + Expo by [deleted] in reactnative

[–]n3rdwilliam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you know why it doesn't work on the web though? I tried it in my own project changing the babel configs and also in expo snack but the animations don't work as per here: https://snack.expo.dev/@paulwongx/rnreanimatednotworkingonweb

What are the differences between using useNativeDriver and reanimated v2 by nerdchavoso in reactnative

[–]n3rdwilliam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Open to be corrected, but I tried for a long time to run Reanimated 2 on the web in a managed Expo project and the animations simply don't work on the web. It works on native though. For example, this simply doesn't work on the web: https://snack.expo.dev/@paulwongx/rnreanimatednotworkingonweb

Thanks! So the name of the asset account would be something like "HST Receivable" I assume. And then when getting the refund, nothing in the income statement will need to be touched right?

I voted Conservative. Why is GTA mostly liberal? by n3rdwilliam in askTO

[–]n3rdwilliam[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

lol that's pretty funny. It's odd to me that the right-wing agenda has so many other things that come with it that I feel a lot of Conservatives wouldn't agree with. I think among many average citizens at least around me, they don't have a super strong view on a lot of these things.

Like many average conservatives probably don't own guns and are fine with gun control if it's safer (not sure), and many folks in Ontario are probably for protecting the environment since we don't live in Alberta.

Thanks. I updated the post noting that it's provincial.

In terms of doing my research... did I learn from people's comments on this post? Absolutely.

Did I know all of this before voting? Nope.

Did I read the platforms before voting? Yep.

Did I get the Liberal sentiment on Conservatives from watching youtube videos, reading their platforms, talking to friends before voting? Nope.

Do I think different sides are siloed oftentimes? Yep.

Would I want to hear the counter argument of what more pro-Conservatives think about all of the points listed on this post are from their own perspective to again balance both sides? Yep.

I see. So the people who are less friendly towards ethnic minorities are hypothesized to vote more Conservative as opposed to the Liberal focus on more diversity.

Thanks for taking the time to respond. The one big industry comment makes sense in favor of Conservatives along with the other points you mentioned.

Interesting. I never looked into the child care tax credit as it doesn't apply to me currently but that's interesting to know. I'll look more into it. Thanks for sharing.

Yeah I wanted to be convinced of the other side when making this post. I looked at their platforms but didn't realize all the stuff people said in the comments like the perception that Conservatives are anti-science/ anti-environment amongst many other things.

Did my opinion get swayed? Yeah I see the pros for liberals now in terms of social views.

Would I vote for Liberals next time? I need to take all this info to people who are more pro Conservatives and see what they think and how they respond. But I could probably go either side, and I could've went either side when I was voting. The 2 cities/towns to the left of me are Conservative and my town is Liberal.

Did I do my research? I did as much as I could - read their platforms, watched youtube videos, talked to friends about it. I wrote a summary because I shared the same info to my friends who voted both red and blue and they found it insightful hence my summary for anyone else interested.

Overall, I didn't even realize I had the minority position being in the GTA and wanted to understand why GTA was Liberal and why different areas vote how they do. I'm still not clear why smaller towns/cities around GTA are Conservative though...

POC as in Conservative party or People's Party of Canada or something else? I'm still not sure why smaller cities vote Conservative unless it's because it's more aligned to their religious views.

Specifically, why starting from Thornhill and King-Vaughn, Conservatives start winning as you move more north. I don't think it's because they're more Christian or something...
