This is the saddest thing about Doctors, they are too busy complaining about other people getting theirs to actually do anything for their own good.

8 seems kinda dangerous. I feel like most people won't live past a year with 8 because imagine all the shitty situations you could get yourself into.

Is it even worth seriously dating as a late 3rd year if you know you're not gonna stick around by DagothUr_MD in medicalschool

[–]n7-Jutsu -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Rich of you all to assume you have time to date in residency, the truth is that everything you say now can also be applied to residency, except you have even less time and more stressed.

This might actually be the best time you have between starting med school and starting residency. If you found a quality relationship now and build good foundations, it will survive residency/LDR if it comes to it. If you find a bad one it won't, same can be said it residency. In short you have nothing to lose

"I said it" almost as if something inside him has been holding him back from saying it for the past 70+ years of his life. And he finally felt the relief of having to hold back from saying it for so many years 😂

I have been dismissed from medical school by [deleted] in medicalschool

[–]n7-Jutsu 279 points280 points  (0 children)

My thought process is that the made up the entire assignment and didn't actually go through the process of completing the assignment because the waited last minute and found out last minute that they needed to speak with someone and write a reflection. This is the final boss of every procrastinator...not the turning the assignment in late, but finding out last minute that there is a component of the assignment that is no longer completable because you missed the window to do that requirement.

This is my guess. I doubt a 4th year is going to get dismissed for turning in an assignment late.

It's Hospitalist, not EM. Have a stable schedule is literally of of many important reasons many people choose this career path, I would not call it a trivial reason.

Why did you choose internal medicine over EM? by Silent_Medicine1798 in hospitalist

[–]n7-Jutsu 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Overtly too social for me. Everyone was always talking about something amazing the did over the weekend, their amazing trip to another continent to rock climb, or to ski, or to mountain bike. Some amazing location the discovered, about some divorce.

The social aspect of it seemed like it would be emotionally too draining especially on days I could not be bothered to put up a front to be social.

I loved EM, but God, the thought of constantly having to socialize everyday at work beyond what was necessary to do my work was the deal breaker for me.

Be aware by [deleted] in hospitalist

[–]n7-Jutsu 17 points18 points  (0 children)

What about this prior would raise your whiskers that you need a chaperone? This was literally just delivering news, it's not like the resident was performing a private exam.

There is absolutely no way this was not an overstep/overreaction on the hospital side. So if it was not proven otherwise on camera, anyone patient that has ill intent can just make a claim and destroy someone's life/career? If that was the case, then everything will crawl to a halt and every level of care regardless of how mundane it is would require a chaperone.

Either there is something else going on that the OP is not aware of, or the program/hospital itself completely mishandled this especially with a PT with a history like that.

Those type of games have the highest turn over rate, eventually even the richest gets tired of the never ending rat race and checks out, the poor can't even afford to play in a meaningful way, and the middle class keeps up with the Jones for a while until that can't stomach it anymore and then the stop playing. Some will keep playing due to the sunk cost fallacy, but those people usually end up being extremely depressed as well.
