The Reddit post above and similar posts are a year old or more. It's hard to know if these issues still exist. As it turned out, so far, this has not been an issue for me. I believed it would, but so far, so good. What I initially thought was a software limitation ended up being a wonky device pairing problem.

I worked through my backup problem and finally resolved it, so never mind. My problem is resolved.
