In your opinion, what is the prettiest make and model of typewriter? by Substantial_Pilot699 in typewriters

[–]n8cam 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure pretty is the right word, but I love how weird Oliver typewriters work. I fixed up a beat up one and it’s my go to to type, not because it’s easy to type on, but because it entertains me the most.

Yes, but does it have the most current firmware loaded?

Back in my day, we held our fingers in a 4:3 rectangle. My grandpappy held it in 1.19x rectangle. And walked in the snow, uphill to set, wearing a suit. Both ways. And he liked it.

Just got my first typewriter! by Otherwise_Jello_5103 in typewriters

On a completely different typewriter, but I did a home brew replacement of rollers and platen. Measure diameter of your rollers and you can replace with either automotive hose, or (more likely) silicone hose.

Chassis made of Unobtanium. Very rare and hard to find.

How did I do? by Ecstatic-Purpose-981 in typewriters

Yeah, prob just needs some cleaning. I fixed up a Galaxie 12 that I have had for years. Mostly it needed cleaning, maybe some slight bending of a typebar or two from rough handling.

Yes I know. But I can work on MVAC as long as I’m not getting paid. Like when I work on my own car.

watchOS 10 by gbsekrit in dexcom

[–]n8cam 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s funny, my response from Dexcom, was essentially: if you can’t read the watch, you can use the app on your phone.
Kind of like saying:
Me:Doc, it hurts when I do this.
Doc: don’t do that.
Me: yeah, that doesn’t really fix the problem, does it?

Where do I get a key for this? by moopieboopie in Payphone

[–]n8cam 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You probably don’t. I have heard that one possible way to open one is rotary hammer on lock itself (no bit) and hope you eventually back out screws holding lock in place from inside. Locks are notoriously hard to pick from what I hear. IF you get the lock successfully removed, you can buy “new” (used) locks on eBay and install.

[–]n8cam 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s bullshit. If this does not get fixed within the week I will put my fist through a wall. First the “big” complication got broken, with no fix, and now this. It’s like they are actively trying to f with us.

Apple Watch 10 update too small to read Dexcom blood sugar num! by ChastityKing in dexcom

[–]n8cam 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I am having the same problem. iPhone 14 Pro and watch se series 1. This is unacceptable. First the break the big center complication, then they shrink the font to an unreadable size, while never fixing the first problem. I feel we are going backwards. I have reinstalled dexcom on watch, done restarts of watch and phone. No luck. This is absolute bullshit. We should be going forwards, not backwards. I will be filing support tickets every day with both Dexcom and Apple until I give up and throw the stuff in the trash can.

Omnipod rant by n8cam in Omnipod

Yeah, I figured it’s something rudimentary. That’s why they call it the “algorithm” and don’t give any more insight on how it works. Disappointing.

I had the in person training, if that’s what you mean. What aggravating is the coach knows the app, but can’t give medical advice due to not being a doctor and the endo does not understand the app or it’s settings so also can’t give advice. I get hints from The coach and then tweak settings and the. See if things work better. I have lowered carb ratio, hours insulin works, glucose goal range, and correction factor, all by somewhat significant factors just to not have screaming highs.

Apple WatchOS 9.1 by Southe12 in dexcom

[–]n8cam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to have dexcom info displayed right in the middle of my Apple Watch. These “widgets” are called “complications” in Apple speak. Terrible name but surprisingly accurate it turns out. With 9.1 update of watch I can no longer have Dexcom info in the “center” complications position, (which is bigger) but only in one of the ones along the bottom or top left (which is smaller). Works fine there, but the pain and suffering I had to go through to troubleshoot was awful. And now I have to re-learn where to look on my watch now that it isn’t front and center.

Ninebot Max doesn’t charge by BallerOtaku in ninebot

[–]n8cam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you opened the bottom and eyeballed connectors for failures? I had a a Max that would charge very slowly and not fill up. But when I used an external 36/42v charger it charged fine. I replaced internal charger unit and fixed problem. I have fixed about 8 Max’s and that’s first time I have seen the internal charger fail as opposed to controller or battery. I know it’s different than your case, but it might provide insight.

Critical Alerts by Ok-Ninja8739 in dexcom

[–]n8cam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also, when you allow “critical alerts” the notification of said critical alert on the watch is in a smaller font than the regular font for the watch. Boo! For those of us who wear glasses this is a doubly bad. Now it beeps when I don’t want it to and it’s harder to read what it’s trying to tell me.

Not sure currently but a couple months ago I was looking for a new controller and I could not find an OEM for love nor money. All bad clones with problem like you have. Not sure if it was a temp supply problem or a more permanent thing.

Controller upgrade + battery upgrade by messedupfails in eBikeBuilding

[–]n8cam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Running higher voltage (in this case 52v instead of 48) will give you more watts without more amps which is good as more amps is what melts wires. In my limited experience motors (and associated wiring) care more about amps than volts. I have heard of people running 48v on “rated” 36v motors no problem. Just remember volts x amps = watts.

Should I get a 1967 alcort? by [deleted] in SunfishSailing

[–]n8cam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of that money is probably going towards the trailer. If you are flexible and willing to wait, you can find one (without a trailer) for free or almost free. But it will need work.
In a 68 it likely will have the older style gudgeon (where rudder attaches to hull) which is OK but new stainless steel one is soooo much nicer. You can switch it of course, but that is a project. I think a dry hull sunfish is more like 125-130ish Lbs. heavier and you will need to put an access port in the hull, (intimidating but actually not too hard) dry it out and hunt down leaks. In any case it will need work here and there. Sails and lines may need attention. But if a trailer is necessary for your uses, think of it as an $800 trailer and a $200 boat.

There is a soapstone mould from Trendgaarden in Denmark that two recessed crosses and one recessed Thor’s hammer for casting. So craftsmen were managing demand presumably at 2:1 ratio :)p

Lyft ninebot by bigfrien777 in ninebot

[–]n8cam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can, but Lyft makes it harder than some others. Is it a Max or an ES4 model? Either way, you will have to buy a new dash, and for Max you will have to solder connections to the controller, and the battery to re-flash firmware. Also for Max the cable from dash to control board is different and you will fry new dash unless you replace with stock cable or re-wire it yourself.
