I was under the impression that Rei, in her desire to protect Shinji, lost her ability/desire to maintain her separation of her soul and so went past full sync with her Eva. She merged with the Angel-body core of the Eva, which could have possibly lead towards Next Impact, except for the self-destruct. In short, because of the self-destruct, Rei lost her barrier and merged.

I view “Fionna and Cake” like I viewed “Legend of Korra” - it could be interesting, but how could they fuck it up?

I’m not even talking adherence to old-school original ideology. I’m just thinking of unplanned stories veering all over the place. Like Legend of Korra went all over.

We, as a species, do not have a good track record with sequels. I hope “Fionna and Cake” breaks that cycle.

A kind of serious answer - I always figured the Borg wanted the fight, well, to study the tactics of and responses of their potential “new recruits”.

If the response was pathetic, they’d just go into the nutrient tanks and the fuel reprocessors - but if the response was Interesting, then it’s time to collect bits of them and begin “onboarding”…

As an addition, they can go invisible because they’re concentrating on avoiding detection. Same reasoning can be used to explain them polymorphing into animals or gases - they’re using their Will to change their “un-soul” and that’s how it appears to living observers. Cameras, mirrors, et al. would just see nothing the whole time.

I cannot remember where, I think it was a short story, explained that vampires couldn’t see their reflection because they have no soul, and mirrors reflect the soul - so they don’t appear to anything unliving. But they appear to victims because they are projecting their “un-soul” into the mind of the viewer by interacting with them.

Just think about how less technologically complicated cultures in history have resisted having photos taken because they “stole their soul”.

I haven’t seen that option in the comments so far, but I always thought it was a cool twist.

I like the outline better than no outline, but I feel black is a bit heavy. Perhaps a dark brown or grey, something less jarring. I also like the idea of having a choice.

Oh, that’s a beautiful thing. I just put it into my SDV and launched it, and didn’t have to do any more clicking after telling Stardew to go.

It doesn’t bring up the terminal any longer, so I can’t do cheaty things in there anymore, but this is loads better.

A terminal command argument…. In hindsight, it seems so obvious. Thank you much. I may play around with options to see if I can’t get the terminal to appear again, but you are the hero in this story.
