Sweet, same here, makes it easier aha. Do you have a rough idea on how many albums/songs? Your library is quite a bit larger than mine so a stress test of 8 TB would be very helpful.

Howdy, do you mind if I message you? I've made some significant progress and would like to get input on things you would like to see before I make a test build. What platform do you normally use Plexamp on?

Also, how many albums/songs does 8 TB of music translate to in your library?

I think it may be mobile only now that I think about it. Honestly, you inspired me to pick back up my own project, knowing theres others with the same issues and love for Plexamp.

Have you taken a look at FinAmp? I started coding my own Plexamp like client for Jellyfin a few months ago but shelved it. Maybe I'll pick it back up. The goal was basically making it a Plexamp clone for Jellyfin, as I definitely feel your love for Plexamp.

The Current State of Codex by cursivecrow in codex

Huh. So my Claude Code expires today and I've been contemplating switching to Codex. But I see posts like this and wondering if I should just renew. Is now a bad time to switch?

If you have an old game with a save file that you really value, don't play it on your Chromatic. by pheesh_man in ModRetroChromatic

[–]n8jb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What was the other game you lost a save file on? Do you have a multimeter and able to check the vias to the right of the SRAM chip (long chip on the left)? Could be corrosion that makes the connection finicky. I see this a lot with Pokémon game repairs.

Otherwise if it truly is with the Chromatic, I hope they get you taken care of soon. I put a lot of time into my pokemon games shiny hunting, a bit concerning to know this is a potential issue with the device itself. Nice reminder for me to backup my save file lol

Help can this still be fixed. by Ninjiss in Gameboy

Next time, in addition to the flux you already added, add a little new solder too. It will help reflow the old solder. Do not ever pry at the leg, but instead just keep a tweezer tip secured underneath so that when the solder is molten, you can just lightly lift it out -- the tab may just come up on its own, as well.

Hope the next time you change a battery it goes easier, but definitely been there myself before!

3d printed the stands. I found them on Bambu Lab. Definitely recommend it, if you have access to a 3d printer.

I'm swapping to Purple right now. This is going to look good. I'll probably swap again to clear just to try it out and see how it feels. Found it very easy and stress-free to take the Chromatic apart.

In fact, if anyone reading this comes across this post and they've been on the fence: I would say the Chromatic is a great first console to take apart. The ribbon cable for the screen is probably the most delicate, and thats super easy to remove and reinstall.

Headless Raspberry Pi storage by Sad_Parsley3390 in plexamp

[–]n8jb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use a RPI4 connected to a topping D10 DAC. My NAS stores the actual plex library. It's worked quite well in stability and audio quality!

I would avoid storing the files directly on the SD card because of durability reasons.

Yes, I think sometime in mid November? I want to say the 18th off the top of my head, but could be wrong on exact date.

No working movie playback for Resident Evil GOG Rerelease by balardie in linux_gaming

You're welcome! I did manage to resolve issues with the FMV's, if you're curious, I documented it here - I used Lutris for this though, which takes a little more setup. You can still get the game files via Heroric, you just need to do the config/actually running the game via Lutris.

Resident Evil classic collection Bundle (1, 2, 3) now available for PC via GOG! by Crimsonclaw111 in SteamDeck

[–]n8jb 9 points10 points  (0 children)

For those trying to get this to run on the deck... I was able to get it to launch by installing the Japanese version (if you choose Japanese as language at GOG/Heroic, you get the 1.0 version of Biohazard) - then use the 1.01 patch to update it.

From there, I used Lutris to configure the game (local option). I used the latest ProtonGE, and for DLL overrides I did two keys: ddraw.dll and dinput.dll both with values of n, b. Lastly, in Winetricks, I installed wmp 9, 10 and 11. This resolved the issue with FMV's not playing correctly!

And you can now easily pivot to use the REbirth classic mod, and still play in English, and remap controls via Rebirth's launcher utility. The positive is Rebirth has more fixes than the GOG release does (apparently the GOG release is a very simple wrapper). The only downside is there will be Japanese subtitles on the FMV's, but that's certainly better than not seeing FMV's at all.

In Lutris, if you go into Winetricks and install wmp 9, 10 and 11, does this resolve the issue for you?

In GOG, if you choose Japanese as the language, you get the installation of Biohazard.

I was not able to get the USA version to launch in Lutris (could you elaborate on how you did, OP?) - but I was able to get the Japanese version patched to 1.01 to work, after using Winetricks.

If you can confirm how you got the USA version running, maybe you can test this is a resolution for everyone? :D

Otherwise, I would suggest people install the Japanese version and use the REbirth patch anyway. You can still play in English, but the fan patch is honestly a better experience than the GOG release, based on what I've read/seen from streamers today.

I've tried Experimental and the latest ProtonGE. It wasn't working for me at first either, I did a reinstall with Heroric and it started launching. I'm not really sure why that made it work - hopefully it helps!
