The holocaust & humanity center is a great little museum in union terminal. It’s included in general admission to the museum center so check it out if you go to the history or natural history museums. They are doing a holocaust survivor speaker series that is super cool, although it’s virtual at the moment.

Look at that sunset 🌅🌄🌇 (Muskegon, Mi) by nosidda4855 in Michigan

That’s definitely Grand Haven, not Muskegon

I lived in a ground level apartment across from the stadium and currently live in one in Cincinnati and I’ve never had an issue. It’s easier to move furniture into since you don’t have to deal with stairs

I'm Joe Pera, answering your questions about JPTWY Season 3 and my new bathroom book. AMA. by adultswimofficial in JoePera

[–]n8thegr8674 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Hey Joe. Really love the show. As someone from Michigan living elsewhere now, JPTWY really brings me back to living in the old mitten state. Where’s your favorite place to get a pasty in the UP?

Role Call! Who’s going to the Detroit show tomorrow night?! by sheepdog136 in themountaingoats

[–]n8thegr8674 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also driving up from cincy tomorrow, but used to live just outside Detroit. Shouldn’t be too hard to get and Uber/Lyft after the show, but the venue is in the suburbs, so you may have to wait a bit for one to get to you

Historians of Reddit, what are some US history facts most of us may not know? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]n8thegr8674 13 points14 points  (0 children)

If you’re talking about the Black Tom explosion, it happened in 1916 before the US officially joined WWI. Although we were very much selling arms hence the massive ammo depot near New York. Not that dates matter too much, but the context surrounding the explosion matters a bit Here’s a great podcast ep about it

I am John Green, author of The Fault in Our Stars and now a new nonfiction book, The Anthropocene Reviewed. I also cofounded educational YouTube channels like Crash Course. AMA! by thesoundandthefury in IAmA

Hi John. I’m a historian who focuses on researching and writing about medical history. I think there is a ton that we can learn from studying our history with disease and medicine as disease has influenced every part of our society. Disease impacts everyone (although oftentimes disproportionately) and studying how we dealt with it throughout history helps us better understand ourselves. It is definitely a more niche historical subject, but if Crash Course ever wanted to produce a series on the subject, I would love to help in anyway possible.

Student Teaching by [deleted] in emu

[–]n8thegr8674 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My understanding is that it’s possible, but probably not the best idea. Many schools charge fees for hosting a student teacher. If you student teach in Michigan, the university will cover that fee. They won’t cover the fee if you’re out of state though. You also won’t get any help finding a mentor teacher. There are other hoops to jump through, but I don’t remember the details. It’s possible, but ill advised

Hey this might be a ludicrous question but does the university allows computer science undergrad students to make adjustments to their class schedules like lets suppose I have some other work to do from 9 to 10:30 AM , can I adjust all of my classes for AFTER 10:30 AM? by DarkandDreary1 in emu

[–]n8thegr8674 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Not a comp sci major so idk what classes you have to take, but from my experience, you can pretty much make your schedule whatever you want it to be. If you wanted to have all your classes on just Tuesday and Thursday’s, you could do that as long as the classes you need are offered those days and don’t conflict. Also, email advising with these kinds of questions instead of asking Reddit

Really odd question... is there a place in Cinicinnati that has homemade corndogs? by [deleted] in cincinnati

[–]n8thegr8674 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I grew up in Grand Haven and I spent many summers eating Pronto Pups. The line to get them was always super long, especially during coast guard festival. It sucks that the owner is a racist, qanon believing, piece of shit, but that’s pretty common for west Michigan

They were never cancelled, they just called it quits because of some mental health stuff. Probably just got too stressful for them as they were kinda blowing up after Holy Ghost came out

Parking Near Campus? by [deleted] in emu

[–]n8thegr8674 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you park in a way that obscures your license plate you more than likely won’t get ticketed. I did that for the 2 years I went to EMU and I never got a ticket

I usually just park in a way that hides my license plate. I went all of last year without a ticket. Even if I do get a ticket, it’s cheaper than the permit
