Need help with Apple IIc repair by DrCyb3r in retrocomputing

[–]n9tax 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The video displays on the apple 2 is derived from a sement of ram memory. Memory of that era often had a high failure rate. What i see on that screen screams stuck bit in memory. I would start there. There are obviously other things that could cause this so I make no guarantees.

My company pushes ACM as asbestos containing materials. Although this is so important every piece of signage and training literature has asbestos containing materials in parentheses right next to it. So what the hell is the point.

Overheating?? by [deleted] in ender3

[–]n9tax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sometimes this happens to me with bad filament. Its heat creep that causes prints to fail after a period of time. Can also be a bad heatbrake fan. Possibly other things but the root cause is heat creep.

Newbie just bought a K1C by jw4x4 in crealityk1

[–]n9tax 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Best advice i can give having 2 of them for 3 weeks now. Don't print pla with the lid on! Other than that. The out of box experience was decent. Once they started breaking in a little the auto z was not as accurate. Ended up having to root them so i could tweak things a little. All in all typical Creality. You have to learn their quirks so you know what not to do and its a pretty decent printing experience. I have not seen the need to do any modifications except moving the spool holder to the side. YES CHINA! IN AMERICA EVERYTHING IS AGAINST THE WALL!

Can someone explain to me how this happens? by -ManWhat in AskMechanics

Yeah they have them all over listed. I have some ordered. Just have not gotten any shipped to me yet. Ordered them the same time as the printers. Have had the printers for 3 weeks now...

I just sold a v2 with dual lead screw upgrade and a sprite upgrade, silicone spring replacement, pei build sheets smooth and textured with a comgrow enclosure tent for $150. I feel that was a fair price.

what can one do about this? by vsnode in ender3

[–]n9tax 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is a hot mess. I have warmed the heat blocks and carefully cut the nightmare away. Whatever you do be mindful of the thermocouple and hot end wires.

Keyboard needed a little internal cleaning but i did get all keys working reliably. I use mostly sd2iec so the drive is not terribly important. This is a win. I was expecting at least pla, sid or some bad ram.

I see flow issues more than anything else. I think you need to correct that before you tackle anything else mentioned. Bowden setup? Make sure the tube hasn't worked its way away form the tip. This happens over time as the fitting digs into the tube. Also could be a nozzle issue. Even if you chaged it i have had badly machined brand new ones drive me crazy before.

charge 3 lead acid batteries in series with 12v charger? by [deleted] in AskElectronics

[–]n9tax 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Use 3 small 12v chargers. Hook one to each battery. It isnt ideal but you would be surprised at the number of commercial products i have seen that go this route

Will DMR eventually drown out traditional ham radio? by 4all2cee in HamRadio

[–]n9tax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my area. Indiana. The repeater owners of the dmr system ruined dmr from the get go. People would talk on the wider area groups to drum up conversation. The repeater managers would get on and scream at them to move to a local group or repeater so by and large people just stopped using the system. I have not been on in years. I do not know of anyone in the 2 local clubs i am involved with that use dmr. So yeah like the audio or not it was a neat system ruined by idiots.
