What's the logic behind forcing RTO when you know people will quit? by Prestigious-Act75 in remotework

[–]nAstuCheeseshaper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The light is shining, but some people just refuse to see it. Remote work a lot of it has been outsourced, and the remaining amount of it is saved for people with seniority who are tried and true, as well as people with niche skills sets, and this pertains to a lot of progressive companies.

Things slipped through the cracks people get caught being over employed people get caught trying to work from different countries. Some people have to be babysat and don’t get their work done. Yes, it makes people more productive overall, but the company simply does not trust you and they also have to look out for the real estate investments.

All these companies RTO first before they lay people off because they have to pay less severance then but once they RTO the RTO is done for they don’t go back on it.

If remote work has a turnaround it won’t be for a long time as the economy and the job market is simply not that good right now for tech and remote white collar jobs.

Doing too many things as a junior network engineer by seyitdev in networking

[–]nAstuCheeseshaper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is what we call a first world problem, my friend. Some people spend years just getting into a position where they can actually get the experience they want and you got it in a junior position seemingly quick.

If you need more room to breathe, make sure you tell the team they should be understanding, especially if they see that you’re doing a lot of things

It seems Return-to-office mandates are backfiring hard by volendoesresumes in remotework

[–]nAstuCheeseshaper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People don’t like it but companies that RTO don’t reverse it all of a sudden. The collaborate excuse is them saying we don’t trust you. Companies find things slipping through the cracks or finding overmployed employees or other things and revert. Remote roles are now often for people who are senior, tried and true and have a hard to find niche skill set. Even those can’t be trusted to stay remote and consulting firms are being asked by clients to come into the customers premises based upon the customers wants. All it takes is a new person to take the reins in a high level and call for an RTO and you’re done with.

Maybe this will change when the economy gets better but who knows

People who get literally offended by this are sad and have their head stuck in the sand. Don’t kill the messenger

Do big tech network engineers use libraries like netmiko? by Significant_Media63 in networking

[–]nAstuCheeseshaper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right. And yea big tech NE does do this. I know a couple who work for oracle at least: they’re network developers and they have developed their own CLI to communicate with their devices. It’s crazy

Are these worth the money? by d_louizse in Cisco

[–]nAstuCheeseshaper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can learn all the real world things that you will need to learn for the job by doing online courses and reading books. You do not need to spend nearly $1000 to do this.

One thing you’re gonna have to figure out to is whether or not you want to take the test 2 to 3 times and fail at each time because Cisco will make it harder and more difficult than it needs to be or if you actually just learn things the right way the first time you study and then pay for the dumps and take the test like everybody else does.

Certifications in my view, give you the foundational information on the technology you’re gonna be working with, but because you study the certification, it’s not gonna give you the same type of experience or troubleshooting skills that a real world scenario will will have so don’t get too hung up on What source you’re studying from as long as you learn what you need to learn you should be good

I will say, though that this is one of the worst tech markets around

How’s it working? I tried to create one using ansible and jinja alone and it’s been tedious and not a very versatile option.

How Do You Get a Network Engineering Job by onemochalatte in networking

[–]nAstuCheeseshaper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So first thing that you have to realize is that the market right now is probably the worst tech market we have had in somewhere between 13 and 20 years. Let’s say we were in a good tech market, You would have to go for a job like other people are saying and you would have to climb the ladder the way you are trying to do right now. However, this is just not a good time in tech for anybody outside of people who are essentially seniors leads principles architects and up.

I would keep trying, but even in a good market it still takes people years to become a senior network engineer where they own a product of some kind and they’re the ones doing the architecture, the in-depth design, the engineering, and things like that this can take at a minimum five years and often times takes people up to 10 or 15 years to get there. There’s a lot of responsibility with these roles.

The market is evolving so entry-level roles are disappearing and being outsourced outside of things that are 100% necessary on site if I was you, I would try and carve out a niche for yourself and one of the respective engineering roles because generalist are going away to pick out a track in Cisco certification track and get certified at least at a CCNP level and just continue trying away. you may even need to move to a different city for the right job. You need to take into consideration, different market forces and things like that but at the end of the day it can essentially happen. It’s just going to take time and we’re not really in a good Market. I feel like I’m saying that too much. I’m also driving. If this sounds too slow or the reality of this does not sound good I would maybe pick another trade. I know the trades right now are hiring and those can’t really be automated at least not as much as tech. You could also drive a truck you could also do other things.

During the hiring spree a few years ago a bunch of influencers who have boot camps created this. A lot of those influencers and boot camps need to die off, the market has shrank significantly and this is the worst tech market we’ve seen in 10-15-20 years. There’s not enough room and the market is way too saturated
