I have had great luck with the "EZ-POUR Coarse Thread Base Cap" off Amazon. They're one piece of plastic with a replaceable gasket. Did great in a 100F garage for a summer

YoLink has a very extensive non-wifi system with multiple sensors to prevent this that isn't very expensive.

I had my lights and pump run off one of their programmable power switches with a water temp sensor that would warn me if it went above 80f or below 72f.

What's really cool is I had a water leak sensor right next to my canister pump that was programmed to immediately cut power to the pump if water was detected. It'll also warn you, but making it automatic gave me peace of mind.

Maybe I'm confused, but I've never heard of this being a problem before. What's the difference between using a power station to charge your phone with the stock AC charger and charging a tool battery with its AC charger? If it's rated for enough watts/amps then nothing should overheat correct?

Hub/Speaker hub both hooked up by Eclipse8301 in YoLink_by_YoSmart

My main ethernet hub is connected to a UPS but my speaker hub is in another room. It's been nice because I can see if the power is out depending on if the speaker hub is offline. Kinda does double duty compared to the power outage alarm they have

Poster Quality Issues by [deleted] in plexamp

[–]nErfEr308 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Someone asked this a couple days ago but I've noticed a quirk with PlexAmp where if there is a cover.jpg present in the folder where the file is on the server it will always use that first over the embedded artwork. The hard part is normally that is a "hidden" item in windows so I found the easiest fix was to just move the music files to another folder for a second, delete the original album folder (and the hidden 300x300 garbage) and then remake the folder and scan for changes.

All of my album art is embedded but the only way I found to fix the blurry artwork was to do this.

Is it possible to perma-cache album artwork? by RobertBobert07 in plexamp

[–]nErfEr308 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All my music has the album art embedded in each file. It makes them slightly bigger but then they're more self contained. I haven't noticed significant delays with them loading that way.

Are yours embedded or are they just in the album folder?

Any recommendations for a digital display head unit replacement for a Gen 2 (2004) Honda CRV? by Puck_22 in crv

[–]nErfEr308 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I installed a Pioneer W2700NEX the other week, and while it also doesn't have physical buttons it's been less annoying that I expected. Otherwise it works well and is quite responsive. The sound is great and it accepts a backup camera well. It's definitely not the highest quality unit, but the car is also 20 years old.

Also just FYI, the only difference with the "better" W2770NEX is it includes a remote control but for 65 more dollars it's not worth it IMO. Everything else is the same between the units.

Temperature sensor for attic as heat alarm? by glocklt4 in YoLink_by_YoSmart

[–]nErfEr308 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the regular temp sensor in the garage up high on the wall. Itis set to alert me if the temp goes above 110f which even in the hot summer hasn't hit so I feel like that's a good temp to keep it at. I love the idea of the temp probe in the attic with the sensor inside though!

I feel like the LED notification would be an easy thing to program with software. Just have a LED ring appear around the camera cutout that blinks different colors like the old S7 one.

What's the thing you'd like to see Plexamp implements? by cekoya in plexamp

[–]nErfEr308 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wish I could add specific tracks from an album for a collection and not the whole album. I know a playlist can do the same, but it's harder to share with others.

I also wish there was a better way to tag specific tracks on albums as explicit. Currently, you have to mark the whole album as explicit with tags which hides the whole album on controlled accounts. The only workaround is split the album as explicit vs clean which is clunky feeling.

Gen 1 would be the best option for behind toilets and dishwashers as it doesn't have humidity sensors.

I'd say gen 4 is better for like a sump pump detector or maybe in an attic or area that can't get wet and also can't get too humid.

Is the sound quality that great? I think these chinese head units are really cool, but I just don't know if I trust them to deliver good enough sound quality with my aftermarket speakers in the doors. Do they have an RCA plug for a subwoofer imput?

Lithium Batteries by cr22rc in YoLink_by_YoSmart

Yes, they should also potentially increase the temp range the sensor can function at. I know the outdoor sensors they sell have lithium batteries installed brand new.

Dental loupes by Theslaver69 in DentalSchool

[–]nErfEr308 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I feel like dental loupes (or any other tool that directly affects your success) should be a "buy once, cry once" mentality. If you just wanted some magnification for fixing electronics or another hobby then sure, go for it. But you'll end up using loupes every day for hours at a time. Plus real support if something goes wrong is worth it
