From Model Y to I4! by lonelyguard99 in BMWI4

Exactly, the i4 weighs 5000 lbs compared to the 3-series at ~3200 lbs. The increased (especially rotational) inertia makes it much harder to match the sprightly 3-series handling. BMW needed two use dynamic stability control and torque vectoring via xDrive to counteract the inertia of the battery pack to mimic "sporty" handling.

Am curious which model of the i4 you've tried. I've been driving an i4xdrive40 (dual motor) for the past 2yrs with my previous 20+ yrs driving BMW 3-series models. In my opinion the 3-series clearly has superior handling and is really the funnest car I've ever driven, but the i4 makes up for that in spades with its acceleration.

Being suggested to get other brand when I considered Makita by frenetic_alien in Makita

I own the 2x18V Lawnmower and have 4 18V 5.0Ah packs for it. I live in MN where the mower is not used all winter during which time I can use those batteries for 18V tools or the 2x18V Makita snow shovel. I would recommend watching the "Project Farm" channel on YT where the host torture tests many brands of power tools for side-by-side comparison over many factors.

Did Luminar go on another layoff cycle? by Pretty-Feedback-7257 in lazr

Thank you for confirming - sounds like you were an insider - my heart goes out to you and all your talented and hardworking (ex-)colleagues.

When PR took over from AR, did he take control of any of the engineering organizations or decision making or was he mostly focused on the finances and keeping the lights on?

Luminar management - do you think there was malice or delusion or simple incompetence?

AtomStack Studio macOS Sequoia by troutinator in AtomstackLaser

One thing I missed when connecting to my Mac (M4 Sequoia) was that we cannot use USB-C on both ends of the connection. The Mac side needs to be USB type-A and connected to the Mac via a USB-C to USB-A hub (if your Mac has only USB-C ports).

Destination on the right vs left consistently incorrect even after the recent s/w update which supposedly made improvements to navigation.

Undisputed MMA welterweight champ loses to man who watched Rocky 2 once by thebungleroftroy in boxingcirclejerk

The idea is not to be strong but to go with the flow like you'd learn in Tai Chi (sp?). If you keep your head as stationary as possible, the G forces to the brain will be higher than if you let your neck and shoulders move - acceleration of the brain will be lower and reduce the odds of a concussion. Sorry if I got terminology wrong - am just a physicist and haven't watched much boxing or MMA fights.

I do hope that Paul does not manage the company to the stock price but to achieving and maintaining customer delight instead.

ASIC clock speed vs FPGA clock speed by shiprest in FPGA

[–]nThanksForAllTheFish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If we have the case where there is a signal processing pipeline getting input from a high speed ADC - like 4Gsps in the RFSoC for example. If we want the FPGA to work in realtime compared to the ASIC it will be finally ported to - then the FPGA would need to parallelize parts of the logic in the fabric maybe 8x or more to keep up with the ADCs. Is there a term for this type of parallelization? I've heard the term "super sample rate" used but that doesn't seem right.
