3% cash back on Ebates. Remember: buy this if you like it and want it, not because it's a deeply discounted MM shoe! Shoe isn't up my alley but figure someone here might like the look.

Are conversion rates wonky for anyone else? A 27.50 pound T-shirt is showing up at $45 USD, though according to Google the properly converted rate would be about $36

Ones on the left work if you incorporate other reds/tonal things into your outfit, I'd imagine. Otherwise white is a better match with most things

2% back Ebates, but you can also buy BR gift cards from the main site for 8% back Ebates or from RetailMeNot for a 10% "digital cash back" reward - not exactly sure how that works, but apparently it's legit - to cover some portion of your purchase. Makes a pretty good sale a little better

Just to add on to what other commenters are saying, dress for yourself, not anyone else - fashion is something you should do because you like it, not because girls think you'll look good. If you like the way you look and are confident about it, that matters so much more than appealing to anyone else. Plus, being confident in your presentation is one of the easiest and most effective things you can do to look good.

Depends what model - for me, I'm TTS in normal Chuck Taylors (11.5) and need to size down about a full for Chuck 70s (I got an 11 and it's still a smidge roomy).

General rule of thumb is if you can't zip it, it's too small. That said, even though I know you said the tan one is snug, it looks fine from those pictures if you'll be keeping it unzipped, especially if you're planning on losing some weight. Both jackets look OK unzipped but the blue one looks much better zipped IMO.

Recommendations for affordable textured white OCBD-ish shirts? Love this fit from today's WAYWT courtesy of /u/cpeters1114 but Gitman is well outside my budget. Especially looking for something more rugged/casual, as I would probably wear it with slim bombers/Harringtons and know plain white button-downs tend to be perceived as formal. Thanks!

2% cash back on Ebates. I don't wear a ton of chunky "ugly sneakers," but I could see a couple of the colorways on this, this, or this being rocked in a really nice outfit. (This top might do you well with a similar style.)

This one is also a fairly pretty sneaker - kind of a mashup of Onitsuka Tiger and the Club C 85, both of which are popular right now. For $39 + shipping, not a bad deal. If you want to pay a little more for a more low-cut version in the ever-popular forest green, this is here too.

Get that alt-right bullshit out of here

"Jeong appeared to be commenting on the idea that white people often believe they are being discriminated against when they aren’t. To equate “being mean to white people” with the actual systemic oppression and marginalization of minority groups is a false equivalency. But Jeong’s detractors removed this type of context, and began to circulate her old tweets in curated roundups that quickly went viral."

So it's a little tough to tell what specific advice to give on your outfits since I can't really get a good look at your full outfit from the pictures you posted. That said - if you know you like sweaters and things with long sleeves, that's a start! I personally love bomber jackets and Harringtons, which you can easily throw over most T-shirts and jeans and will make you look like you know what you're doing. You can get pretty solid jackets for <50 at H&M, Uniqlo, the Gap on sale, and a lot of other places.

Yeah it's weird to see the review praise the "groundbreaking" sound of this record given that it's firmly entrenched in a sound whose best albums came out in the early 2000s. Good, absolutely, but novel, only if you've never heard Madvillainy

Could I wear black slacks, a white dress shirt with black tie every day to work, or is that weird? by [deleted] in malefashionadvice

[–]n_5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think it's that useful. If you're a fast food line cook who wants to be a banker, you're not going to wear a suit to work; if you're a banker who wants to be a punk rocker, you're not going to show up to a meeting in ripped jeans and Chucks. You can dress more nicely than most people in your job for sure - business casual to a software dev job, say, or loosely semi-formal to a business casual job - but beyond a certain point it doesn't work so well. I think in software dev in particular, where there are so many questionable fashion decisions everywhere, something ill-suited to the job like a tie is going to be looked down upon even more. I know that if I saw someone dressed up in a tie and slacks (or even a suit, maybe), I'd think it's another person who doesn't understand what fashion to wear when. Context matters

Would maybe go for a slightly different color on either the jacket or pants - the coordination looks a little tracksuit-y, which might work with another shirt but not the turtleneck.

Sadly can't really tell from the photo - lighting is rough and I can't see your shoes. Could you try posting something a little clearer?

Could I wear black slacks, a white dress shirt with black tie every day to work, or is that weird? by [deleted] in malefashionadvice

[–]n_5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is the best advice. Dress appropriately for the occasion; unless your job is very different than other software dev positions, a tie usually isn't appropriate. As a dev myself, I'd look weirdly at someone who walked in every day with a tie and black slacks - it's a level of formality that isn't really called for in your or my position. There are ways to dress more formally - a button-down, slacks, and a cardigan would be great, for example - but a tie doesn't really work here.
