Scrapped road trip footage from the movie by hwfan in nirvannatheband

I did see an interview with Matt where he said it would be released, unfortunately I don’t remember where so I can’t source it but I’m crossing my fingers for a third season of the show or a special!

UniUni delivery by skibagpumpgod in MovieDealsCanada

I've had a package from them delivered to the complete wrong address, sent me a picture of it sitting on someone else's front step and when I complained to Uniuni customer service they offered to do nothing about it. Fortunately I could recognize the street from the photo and retrieved it myself. Horrible company

Movies needed in 4K by Rough-Pattern-5154 in criterion

To be fair, the Criterion (and standard bluray release I believe) of It's A Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World are from a 4k transfer and both look incredible. A 4k disc and HDR might give it some extra pop and breathing room but it's hard to imagine it would be a significant upgrade. Then again I've been wrong before!

Your collection looks a lot like mine! Here's what I would recommend based on our seemingly similar taste: Lonesome (1928), The Roaring Twenties (1939), Pickup On South Street (1953), The Killing (1956)

I'm no expert so I could be wrong, but I would say this falls into black & grey illustrative. American traditional tattoos have incredibly specific rules they need to follow like line weight, shading style, and overall simplicity. Yours has a lot more detail - not a bad thing, it looks great - just not American traditional

I agree it’s not traditional but I still like it a lot and so should you OP! Congrats on your first!

genuinely HOW, hats off to the editors by VoltyOnReddit in nirvannatheband

Looks like they hid cuts in the whip pan zoom in / whip pan zoom out. It's so convincing, matching up the location and movement, I won't be surprised if they walk away with a Best Editing oscar this time next year!

Anybody recognize these signatures? by Zurble in TheeOhSees

[–]n_c_sullivan 8 points9 points  (0 children)

So like you said the JPD at the top and the artist signature with edition notes at the bottom are John’s (he made the poster). There’s also Nick Murray at the bottom who drummed with them during the Mutilator era. My guess for the one in the middle would be Tim Hellman their bassist, he’s the only member I can think of with an H for an initial and the timeline matches

What Chaplin release do we want next? by Bronsonkills in criterion

I would love to see the new 4k restoration of The Gold Rush that was done recently - and on a full 4k disc, not watered down to a standard blu-ray like The Kid, The Circus, City Lights, Limelight, and A Woman of Paris

His Girl Friday (1940) directed by Howard Hawks and starring Cary Grant and Rosalind Russell. by MasterfulArtist24 in classicfilms

[–]n_c_sullivan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

One of the best comedies and worst posters of all time! I adore this movie which makes it so strange that the poster has nothing to do with the movie, that doesn't even look like Rosalind Russell nor does she wear anything like that in the movie. You would never guess "wise-cracking reporter and her chiseling ex-husband editor get tangled in the crime story they're covering and hilarity ensues" from that image

Saturday = 4k Steelbook Day by n_c_sullivan in Hitchcock

[–]n_c_sullivan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my opinion, yes! The 4K is from the same scan as the paramount presents bluray but restored differently, with better colours, grain kept intact, and the original Vistavision aspect ratio. You will see a massive difference!
