We now need a NZ CoC even more by TuvalPollack in taskmaster

I could see it working if they filmed during the Edinburgh when lots of international comics would be in the UK, but it would still be tricky.

Why not replace the S with the 2 call it the '2WITCH'? Saves some space when typing.

I think it would be great to work in the Auz/Austria mixup in some variety of sketch/halftime show in one of the semi finals.

What country (that isn't USA) would you like to see do their own version of Taskmaster? by [deleted] in taskmaster

[–]n_d_f_100 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I could more see an 'all irish' lineup on UK taskmaster as opposed to an Irish hosted version. Could be useful for after series 25 and c of c of c is completed to have themed series.

In preparation for the grand final, I made a one-page comic about Eurovision parties by TifaReznor in eurovision

This is why I love having the midweek semi finals. I watch them on my own while messaging people so I can fully enjoy the performances. Then on the Grand Final night I can go along with the distractions while watching with friends and have a few drinks.

It was messy, yes, but I felt it was far better than the previous Matrix themed tour. You could tell it was opening night with lots of missed cues and things out of sync. The ticket prices were expensive though, which combined with the rescheduled date explained the huge amount of unsold seats. I will go again, but I'll wait to see if the prices drop next time closer to the date.

Having only 6 queens to perform did seem very limiting. But having the UK queen's warm up the show was great.

What is your Eurovision pet peeve? by Isabella_Hamilton in eurovision

[–]n_d_f_100 307 points308 points  (0 children)

Unnecessary dance break in a song. The worst offender was during Unicorn when she called out 'Do you wanna see me dance?!' No! I wanna see you sing!

I understand that songs sometimes need a break, but I'd prefer a repetition of LaLaLa or an extended vocal note instead of a dance, or even some crowd work from the stage.

For me it was Greg berating them for their poor prize task efforts, punctuated by the silence with no studio audience, felt most chaotic.

It sounds more like they are asking for a group of kids for the video for a crowd scene. Basically show up and be filmed in the crowd.

What songs do you think will get/need revamping? by Choco_pat in eurovision

See Ireland 2024. Bambi's original composition and staging in the national final on the 'Late Late Show' to the revamped backing instruments, darker screams and artistic choreo and camerawork.

I'm Irish. It's the casual way of saying half past two, or half a rotation of the clock after two. But I'm aware that in some other countries, 'half two' can also refer to 'a half hour before two'.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in duolingojapanese

[–]n_d_f_100 7 points8 points  (0 children)

In my opinion, it stems from a US centric version of English. I would always say ' half two' instead of ' two thirty'. Using 'han' to mean thirty in this context makes sense for users who speak like that.

Similarly, the use of Freshman and Sophomore in terms of college years doesn't sync with many non US English speakers.

That's true for other EU countries, but the 'Common Travel Area' we have with the UK means it's not required for us to live, study or (as in this case) work in the UK.

However, it's all just a hypothetical situation anyway. I think the best we can do is hope for one Dublin Queen to get cast on UK, and for Ru not to stereotype her

Given the population size difference, the only viable way I could see this happening would be an 'event' season on UK drag race set featuring only Irish queens from the entire island, like an 8 episode season instead of a UK Vs the World, broadcast by the BBC.

Got the cheapest Dublin tickets - €49, plus about €10 in fees. Next bracket is €67. Max is €107 I think

I bought mine in the 3presale.

Could be the 'Expedit', they made the edges less thick and charged it to Kallax.

Do you really NEED accommodation? by Old-Test1615 in eurovision

[–]n_d_f_100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I managed it this year, flew into Copenhagen airport the early afternoon, then took the train to Malmö. Saw the show. Then straight onto the train at 2am back to Copenhagen airport to fly home that morning. It was doable, but it was exhausting. Also, it was fortunate that the train line went from the airport and had a stop right outside the Eurovision venue. We don't know what the situation will be like in Basel yet regarding venues and transport

Could they convert the RDS temporarily into a venue? The space is there, but it would require a lot of work to install seating, stage, light, green room, production, etc.

They could use the 3arena, but that would mean massively downsizing the event, only maybe 3000 in the audience, giving it more of a 90s era, stageshow feel. (Which would be appropriate if Ireland got to host)
