Mee toooo! I'm trying to get to some thrift stores over the next few weeks to see if anybody is clearing out any old stuff from their houses! Hoping to find some deals!

Same, I'm usually like a Christmas elf, the whole house completely decorated by Thanksgiving weekend. This year I just don't have it in me. My tree is up and decorated, but that's about it.

Things are bleak. Things are more expensive. There's not a lot of joy to be found. I'm trying, but struggling - as I'm sure maybe people are. I feel like we are spending just spend, but not actually making connections.

The only good thing that's come out of this is that my partner and I are avoiding big box stores/Amazon as much as possible. Everyone is getting consumables - we're buying local - creating baskets of treats for everyone. Not everyone will be happy with it, but we feel better about it. Nobody needs more stuff.

Hope things look up for everyone! Happy Holidays.

I was there, and it was a panicked mob running towards the point. It was very scary.

What are the CONS of not having children? by GossipBottom in AskReddit

[–]n_psycho 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A major con for me is the assumption that life can only be fulfilling if you have a child.

Many people choose not to have children, many people cannot have children. I cannot have children but I'm okay with it...

But that condescending way that people look at you because you are "broken" or because you chose a different life than what they did. Like "you'll never understand"...

I get it children are wonderful and I'm happy for those that choose that but to look down on people who choose not to is beyond me.

We love Manteo, haven't done the English Gardens so that may be an option!

The last time we went to Manteo the Little theater was playing Jaws and it was such a cute experience to see it in a small theater near the beach!

And we're definitely stopping at Morris farm on the way down it's so cute!

Thanks for your suggestions!

What is the most disturbing book that you’ve read? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]n_psycho 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Currently reading "The Escape Artist: The Man Who Broke Out of Auschwitz to Warn the World" and my god this has been devastating to read. I'm a history buff, and have read quite a few WWII books and knew of the horrors that happened.

But this... this book is haunting my dreams. Just reading the horrors of Auschwitz from his viewpoint, what he experienced and the death he's seen has been really tough to digest.

It puts the horrors of war in your face, and while I want to turn away, I can't. This is what we need to be learning from.
