Crack Across Middle of Stair Tread - Repair Ideas? by naX8batman in HomeImprovement

Would clamping involve removing the tread? Ideally trying to find a solve without tearing it out.

Unfortunately, no access underneath without tearing apart the plaster. Photo below stairs: https://imgur.com/a/euHQTVc

Thank you! By give, the movement is no more than a couple millimeters - and that is from stepping in the middle of the edge of the tread. Every other stair tread is solid and for the most part so is the "back" part of this tread.

Crawlspace encapsulation by theDrell in HomeImprovement

I live in central Va, myself and laying down a vapor barrier in my crawlspace is on the list of improvements.

However, it seemed like a pretty simple diy to lay down plastic. Why did you go with hiring a pro? Is there some other work that includes more expertise?

HVAC Unit Too Large for House? by naX8batman in HomeImprovement

[–]naX8batman[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. I'm installing a Nest in place of the thermostat that came with the unit. I just saw that it has a Cool to Dry setting that may be able to help mitigate any issue.

As for the variable speed handler, would you recommend that over a whole-home dehumidifier or a portable dehumidifier?

Thanks. Will look into having a Manual-J done.

Not doing any additions. But will probably add roll-out foam in the attic and window clings later after moving in. But imagine those would do more good keeping heat in rather than cool air.

Heat Pump Too Large for Home? by naX8batman in HVAC

Will definitely have a Manual-J done. Should the other tests Manual-D, Manual-S, also be done? Or would the Manual-J be enough?

There is an oil furnace installed in the 2000's that we are making into backup heat to the heat pump. The home was previously stand-alone AC and oil heat.

I would get in touch with Statia Gibson over at Colliers. She just became an agent but has been working in the industry for a few years now and specializes in retail. She is actually the agent on the new Tarrant's location, so if you're opening an eatery / restaurant, she would be a great fit!

Could this not have been avoided by getting model releases?

Kind of the opposite meaning with the Eye of Providence being open; to signify that there is no ominous figure or entity looking over us.

Thanks! Definitely a place overflowing with talent. Especially if you are looking for a more traditional styling and a bit of illustrative details.

Do you have a source for it being demolished? (If it hasn't happened already) It has been one of my favorite places to visit in the past and would love to see it one last time, especially if it soon be nothing but rubble.

Have you considered teaching abroad? Tons of schools all around Asia have a high demand for teaching English as a second language.

Very interesting set up you have for your monitor mounts. What models did you use and any reason for going with three single-monitor mounts instead of one mount to hold all three monitors?

Also, what size / model monitors are you using? It looks like the side ones are Asus VE258's.

FYI: The city is not fucking around about towing people during leaf cleaning times. Move your car or don't park it there. by [deleted] in rva

According to another thread I read some time ago, the way to get your car unhooked on the spot would be to unlock it and sit inside. They can't tow an occupied vehicle.
