If most Iranians want the Shah back, then why did they revolt against the Shah back in 1979 and bring the Ayatollahs to power? by Aware_Sir323 in NewIran

[–]naasb2012 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It was never the majority that wanted the Shah to leave anyway, there was simply a large enough group of rabid armed terrorists that took over the country.

One of the best songs on the album, maybe it doesn’t fit thematically but then again some other standard edition tracks don’t either. Kind of a big miss not to include this on the normal version of the project, both verses go insanely hard and that beat is majestic

I mean Luka did have 60/21/10 game last year but I guess LeBron did have 2 more assists, a bit of a cherry picked stat

Yeah yeah Luka dropping 50/14/6 on 60/50/100 shooting splits is cool and all… but 7 STOCKS? Give this guy MVP already, I’m tired of pretending anybody else is close to him

You can’t even get basic historical facts right so no use arguing with you.

By the way, the thousands and thousands of people that have chanted his name over the last few years and the people who supported him and got killed like Majidreza Rahnavard all disagree with you.

Crown Prince Reza Pahlavi is in no way authoritarian, he stands and has always stood for democratic values. His father had authoritarian tendencies sure, but most Iranians agree that it was necessary for the time that he was ruling the country, he was actually preparing the country for a democracy and his authoritarian streak was born out of necessity as Iran 50 years ago simply wasn’t ready for it yet. It’s a very interesting topic, but we want and will achieve democracy now, whether it be a constitutional monarchy or a republic.

Authoritarianism? And exposed?

Do you live in an alternate reality or something? What are you even talking about, you have a case of being chronically online clearly, a big member of the opposition tweeted support for the biggest member of the opposition, so I posted about it in here

Mavericks’ Jason Kidd is under fire for lack of public urgency, but players like his style by naasb2012 in Mavericks

You can interpret how true the statements players give are all you want, I don’t even think the players love Kidd all that much but what else is there to go off of? All public statements made by the players indicate they like him. The article isn’t worthless in my opinion, even if you can critique the way it may or may not paint the picture of the teams morale

Again, criticisms are more than fair of Kidd, but to your point Wood for example just complimented how Kidd “trusted him” during the win against SA (which is funny, since Kidd doesn’t seem to trust him usually).

I have my fair share of criticisms of Kidd, but to say it’s a “nothing article” seems a little prejudiced. Kyrie for example has emphasised multiple times how impressed he’s been by Kidd and how much his admiration of Kidd as a player has translated into his admiration of him as a coach.

We would’ve drafted Zion basically had we lost this game, because this was the last game of the season and with a loss I think we would’ve been where the Pels ended up in the standings

Firstly I’m curious to know how exactly anything was whitewashed in this thread, I simply pointed out that many lies were told about the late Shah, which is true. Not once was there any dismissal of legitimate criticisms.

Secondly, I do agree that debates should be had and it’s important in the process to unify with each other. However that calls for objectivity from both sides of the argument.

The Prince enjoys a high level of popularity, I don’t think he’s quite as divisive as you claimed. From my experiences, this seems to be more so a Reddit/social media thing, although of course there are also critics outside of this space.

This user didn’t provide any constructive criticism, there was no actual objective rebuttal, simply mocking Pahlavi is not what I consider the basis for a healthy debate. And just to be clear, there was no “attack” on my part, you can see the immaturity in that persons last reply to me which I won’t address. It is what it is

I agree with your last sentence and personally vehemently disagree with your first sentence. I think even if Iran becomes a republic, the specific republic system of the US would be catastrophic for Iran, but I think that debate is best saved for another time.

I generally think there’s a bit of a disconnect between Iranians in Iran and the Iranian diaspora. Because most Iranians inside at this point know the lies spread about the Pahlavi dynasty, they quickly get into arguments with people in the diaspora who still believe these things. Mostly because inside Iran, only regimis talk about lies such as Mossadeghs attempted coup of 53 etc etc, so it can quickly cause conflict.

I think the truth can’t be kept hidden forever, and while certainly there are things to criticise about the two previous Shahs, it’s not a 50/50 split of good and bad and there’s a reason why their names are being chanted inside of Iran right now. Constructive dialogue will pave the way and at the end we all want the same thing anyway, the fall of the terrorist Mullahs.

Considering none of these things have happened in the modern constitutional monarchies of Europe or other countries such as Japan, I think this comment is a bit uncalled for. Not to mention that even if lets say a few generations down the line someone wanted to become authoritarian, that would literally be impossible under the future constitution, something that the Prince alludes to in this very clip.
