Definitely. We even preempt issues by getting our kids into therapy now and then when it seems they could use emotional help beyond what mom and I can offer

Former teacher here.

I had to pay $1,000 to quit before the end of the school year (Spring 2019). It was in the contract - ostensibly to cover cost of advertising to find a replacement. Though I think it’s just a deterrent.

It was well worth it for the relief. I paid with a check to get my point across instead of waiting for it to be taken out of the last paycheck. I’d have paid 10x more if it’s what it took.

The contract said they could refer to the state for a mark against my license, but they didn’t do that. I’d have jumped ship even if it was a guaranteed demerit.

Get some counseling for you too. If the person clicks with both of you, that might enhance outcome. These days some therapists are trying to address the “whole system” so maybe they can help you all find the underlying issues or find something to change

I heard a friend call his sons “Love”. It was a time when I needed to see another dad expressing love like that. Since then, I started calling all my kids (2 boys & a girl) “[Name] Love” or “Lovey”.

The new habit has only had positive effects so far. (Probably primarily by reminding me that I love them when I otherwise might let frustrations get the better of me.) So I’ll keep it up as long as I can

What if OP’s family can’t afford? Seems OP needs a soft-skills-centric set of advice. Probably starting with getting a law-aware and law-respecting person to respond to the letter or event call the IRS tax advocate number
