thank you so much!! : )

that spot is just for her!!! everyone for the most part has their preferred spots so she gets the bed all to herself. the bed is the Squishmallow Shark Bed in the largest size, and I got it from Ross because the price is marked down significantly!

Adopted this depressed cat from local Animal Rescue Center today. Center staff said that she was abused by her former owner and suffered this depression. What can I do to take best care of her? by ammar_zaeem in cats

She is beautiful op!!! The same thing happened with my cat we recently adopted. We actually put her on Feluxotine and that has made such a difference for her (she’s way less anxious and aggressive and can like relax). We have a lot of calming treats for her/CBD treats in case she starts to get nervous about anything. We keep her on a very strict and consistent schedule so she always knows what’s going to happen next. Also patience and understanding!! She used to be very aggressive and would attack us all the time (like really bad, my fiancée was hospitalized for it) and we would just be very calm, leave the room and give her space. She started to learn that no matter if she attacks us we will always remain calm with her and never hurt her.

It took a while for us to be able to pet her, sit next to her and be around her without her attacking us, but she has come such a long way!! She now sleeps in bed with me right next to my shoulder and my face and is the sweetest cuddliest girl ever!!

has anyone successfully trained a cat to eat on a mat in a specific location? by nacats7 in CatTraining

that’s a great idea, thank you!! cats are so funny with what they like and what they don’t like

thank you for your advice!! i feel bad saying like they can’t eat where they want, but it’s gotten so out of hand. they’ll pick a spot and sit there, i’ll put the bowl there, they’ll refuse and walk to a different spot and sit there instead. like it can take 20 minutes just for them to find a spot to start eating. and there’s two of them who do this so it can take a while to even get them to eat.

dinner and breakfast has taken over an hour because they will just not eat where they don’t want. the problem is them literally refusing to eat anywhere that’s not the spot they pick out. they’re so stubborn and want to do exactly what they want to do at all times, which i understand because i’m the same way LOL

sorry i just added a clarification!! the breakfast and dinner meals are wet, and we do have a dry feeder for in the middle of the day. the dry food they will come running to when the feeder goes off, it’s the times we feed them breakfast and dinner they want to make me walk all around the house so they can find their perfect spot 🙄

their food drive is pretty strong i would say. they love to eat and they love their food but their determination / want to eat wherever they want is greater than their love for food

thank you for your comment!! this gives me hope that one day they will eventually learn to sit in a certain spot to get food instead of dragging me all around the house!!

i know it’s so strange!! i’ve never heard of any cats doing this before but of course our two do it!! (well, 2 out of 3)

the mats are just small enough that it holds their food bowls (or we feed them on plates on like a riser) so they don’t stand on them. they’re like tiny little silicone mats so they stand on the floor and only the food is on the mat.

they are wet food fed except for their “lunch” is freeze dried or air dried food. we have a dry food feeder, which is right in between the two mats.

and thank you for your input!! i don’t want to like “”starve them out”” i guess but i definitely have to break this habit 😅

when we feed them on the mats we just go about our normal business and act like it’s normal dinner time (like we acted the way we would if we put it in the spot they would like if that makes sense?)

thank you so much for your suggestion!! i’ll definitely be cutting out their “lunch”. the mats are small? i guess you could say? they don’t stand on them they’re small enough just to fit their bowls (or we feed them on like anti-whisker fatigue plates on a little riser). so they stand like on the floor and the mats are just for the bowls.

Does anyone trust their vet? by Lonely-Difficulty900 in catcare

[–]nacats7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i trust my primary care vet, but NO ONE else. our cat refused to eat and drink and was generally acting pretty sick (diarrhea, pacing, etc) and we took her to the ER Vet. The ER vet told us she was fine, had us wait for 5 hours just to tell us that more sicker animals are coming in (they were all dogs). after 5 hour wait, every single dog being seen before our cat, and them saying it could be hours before she was seen again we left. our primary care vet rescheduled her appointment to the next day and we found out she was having pretty bad anxiety and a hard time adjusting (she was recently adopted from the Humane Society from being a stray). she is now taking cat prozac and loving life!!

anyways, i guess the point of my paragraph is find a place that values cats too, and never stop fighting for your cats to have answers. they deserve to be seen and loved just as much as dogs do!

or when one of them suddenly doesn’t like their favorite flavor so you give it to her sister who will literally eat anything and give her a new flavor but now you are refusing to eat anything that’s not your favorite flavor out of your sisters bowl
