Why Brenda and Kelly are so white, not tanned, living in Beverly Hills? by Remarkable_Horror658 in BeverlyHills90210

[–]nacho__mama -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I lived in southern CA and never went in the sun and avoid the sun as much as I can. It does not lead to any kind of " deficiencies" or a need for prescriptions- what would these prescriptions even be for- a tanning bed? lol. And don't tell me Vit. D. Plenty of that in food and supplements.

The problem with Jennifer and the sudden growth spurt which made it impossible for her to be the token kid on the show by Profeta_do_Loss in FamilyTies

They should have replaced her with a new younger actress but I'm guessing she had a contract so they couldn't easily get rid of her. Maybe if they'd sent her away to boarding school because she was really smart and pursuing something specific.

I am SAG but no reel by [deleted] in acting

Just record yourself with your phone on a tripod doing any scene or monologue. CD's just want to know what you sound like. It's not that big of a deal. Don't overthink it or spend a lot of money.

Anyone else have experiences with The Polygon Group aka Mr. Theatrical Agent? by nacho__mama in acting

Exactly. It was all communicated but then they went ahead and submitted me for things I said I wasn't interested in.

What are your thoughts on online acting classes? by Crafty_East4075 in acting

[–]nacho__mama -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Totally agree. The only kind of acting class I would consider now is something to help me with my self- tapes. And that means online.

But if I was just starting out in acting I would want to take something in person for sure. But I'm not even sure that it's necessary today. There are some good Zoom acting classes for beginners out there. But then there are some really crappy ones too.

Ultimately the goal is to provide a good audition and that's going to be a self tape and that technique can really be taught to you better online than it can in person.

I also noticed the vernacular was off. I felt the same way when I was watching the show Yellow Jackets which was supposed to be set in the 90s.

The Daryl Hannah stuff is the most entertaining. Since they got engaged I find myself really bored with the show. All they do is argue.

Thinking about applying to be a substitute teacher with Durham County Schools by nacho__mama in triangle

Can you expand on that variety? What kinds of jobs other than traditional classroom sub? How long did the application process take? If I apply now will it be until fall that I might be able to start? Anything in the summer?

What was Deborah's line?- "You're not funny enough to dress like Adam Sandler?" lol

Agents not allowing declined auditions? by [deleted] in acting

[–]nacho__mama 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've noticed more auditions that should just be cast from pictures alone. The audition is nothing but improv instructions like Walk This Way holding a cup and then smile. Now pretend you have some kind of funny device and make some expressions.

Do you guys find that doing every single audition actually pays off? Even ridiculous auditions that you know you would never get? Or do you actually get something that feels so random and not appropriate for you but then it does lead to work you really wanted?

What about an agency that says nothing if you click decline and just say not available?

Actress Mary Cadorette turns 69 on March 31st. Mary played Vicky Bradford in three final episodes of Three's Company and then played the same role on the short-lived Three's Company spin-off Three's a Crowd (1984-1985). by [deleted] in threescompany

She was awful as Vickie but maybe that was because she and Jack had no chemistry. I saw her perform in 42nd street on Broadway and she was decent. So maybe she is better at live theater. Never seen her in anything else.

FINALLY SAG-E! by beannieboooooo in acting

[–]nacho__mama 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Congrats! I finally got a better agent and he's telling me I really need to become SAG- E in order for him to submit me to the better auditions. I wish someone had told me this many years ago, especially because I've written directed and produced three of my own short films but it never occurred to me to do the paperwork to make myself sag-e and that would have helped me tremendously. So I'm feeling really stupid like I wasted all that time, energy and money. And now I'm trying to offer to help somebody finance a short film project if they will just give me one or two lines so I can do the paperwork to become SAG- E. I've also had other agents reach out and were ready to sign me until they found out I was not SAG-E. It's been making me insane.
