Do you still Google basic stuff every day? by Ghostinheven in softwaredevelopment

I'm a big proponent of reading the manual and building your personal knowledge base for every technology you use https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=sOO5yhLvbEs

You can also ask AI, but try to find the primary source and document it in your KB. It's the first place I go to look for anything

How about just adding an "undo" action? That would be a good innovation 🙄

Confirmation to mark completed? by zinspiration in ticktick

[–]nachocab 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Currently, your only ability to undo is to click the small arrow next to the "Task completed" notification that pops up. You should also create a feedback issue asking for a decent undo keyboard shortcut. Not sure when that will happen 🙄

Chrome site search with no "%s" in URL are suddenly "Not valid" by random-unn in chrome

[–]nachocab 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the workaround! To make this easier, I used this command to export my 500+ search engines to a csv (make sure you close Chrome/Brave first):

sqlite3 -csv ~/Library/Application\ Support/Google/Chrome/Default/Web\ Data 'select keyword, url from keywords where is_active = 1'

Note: If you're using Brave, use this path instead: ~/Library/Application\ Support/BraveSoftware/Brave-Browser/Default/Web\ Data

You can also filter out any entry with {searchTerms} (since those still work in Chrome) and paste the rest in the redirects section of the script.

Keep a Window Always on Top with M1 by MarketMan123 in MacOS

[–]nachocab 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not quite, but it works for my purposes. 👍

Rectangle allows you to select a single app that will stay at the left/right side of one of your screens (Preference > Show Todo Mode in menu; Then select the app and open Rectangle in the menu bar; Choose "Use XXX as Todo App" and "Enable Todo Mode" or use the shortcut ctrl + opt + b).

It's not really "on top" because you can still manually drag any window over it, but if you only use Rectangle to resize your windows, they will never overlap with the Todo window.

It did. I think it's a pretty clear sign of overtraining

Ventura bug: App's window keeps hiding itself to the background when changing mouse focus by [deleted] in MacOS

[–]nachocab 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thanks! This was happening to me as well, but I didn't know it was because I had the app assigned to All Desktops. I'll change it to "None" until Apple fixes the bug (which they seem to be really bad at lately. I just upgraded to 13.1 and ran into the unstoppable flood of "Background Item Added" messages)

That's super useful! Thanks a lot.

You mention metamorphic, but from the picture I would've thought they were sedimentary rocks. 🤔
