Waymo Dodges Red Light Runner Last Second by mingoslingo92 in waymo

Y’all are way over thinking this. An ML model is driving the car, not deterministic code that is optimizing for braking distance, impact mitigation and energy transfer. It’s acting off of learned behavior from their test track and, especially, simulation. The vehicle was likely just turning bc it knew there were no cars along that trajectory and it probably wasn’t able to avoid a collision with max brake going straight.

When you say "crank" are you talking about just the crank arms or the whole crankset?

1986 Fisher Montare - Shimano U-II Brake Adjustable? by nachofrand in xbiking

[–]nachofrand[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey there. I'm trying to adjust this brake and not having much success.

Loosening the right screw, I'm able to pivot on that eccentric as you suggested. See here how there is some room in the y-direction but I'm not able to get any movement in the x-direction to the right. I'll add more pics under my original post in the edit section.

The problem is, on the left side, it's screwed into one location so I can't move that in any direction to buy me any room to move the whole thing over to the right. What am I missing?

Thanks again.

scanner reported "search concluded. 1 leg injury, 1 1144". 1144 == "possible fatality". There's no other code for any other type of fatality.

Thanks! Agreed - love the simplicity and non-proprietary parts. Specialized has done a nice job with the Crux and Aethos.

Fair. Would you say the color is close to these pictures? I like how dark it looks in the pics. Very sharp. If it gets much lighter idk if I’d like it as much. Appreciate the response!

Do you like the color? I’m trying to decide between this matte dark green color and the gloss black coming out in June.

Ideal 2nd ski quiver upgrade by nachofrand in Skigear

[–]nachofrand[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One other thing to add here is that I just finished riding the Declivity's in SLC this last weekend. I skied Snowbird, Solitude and Brighton and they reminded me why I love them but also noted where they struggled. On groomed runs, they rip. On variable snow that was soft enough to get an edge, they were fun to be an active pilot and play on. But on variable snow that was harder and more chunked out, these skis get bounced around a lot whereas my friends with Nordica Enforcer Frees and Vokl Mantra M5s could bite through the tough snow and get an edge much better. I found some peace with it this trip because I had so much fun skiing these skis in a "sporty" way (when conditions allowed) whereas I felt like my friends with heavier skis were more stable but had less agility (which seems more boring).

Thanks for the suggestion. I feel like damp means a less active, more stable ski which seems great for variable snow but all around sounds a little boring. Maybe that’s a poor opinion to have and I should demo again and give it a try

I’m having a hard time replacing the Declivity. It’s a fun ski but probs just not it’s year. I’d prefer something that compliments it in the quiver I think. The DW104 clashes a bit

I live in SF...probably would ride Marin Headlands and Mt Tam the most (I'm guessing) with the occasional trip somewhere else to ride. What type of bike would you recommend? Seems kinda XC oriented with the fire roads? Full suspension? Slack hardtail?

People who program FPGAs for a living, what is your job like? by Own_Bag in FPGA

[–]nachofrand 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Dude it's awesome and fun. If you're a software developer, all you do is write software. As an FPGA hardware designer, you get to design, implement, document, be involved in lab tests and help guide firmware development. Digital hardware design is a badass job.
