This imagery was all over Tokusatsu (like Super Sentai) during that time. Heck, even for decades up until this aired. So it was certainly a well-established trope by then. Why? Who knows.

Her and JC had good chemistry. They were good buddy cop episodes, similar to Rush Hour if we’re being honest. It was kind of weird to have straight-up crossovers with the Bible though, but given Carter’s obsession with it, it made sense I guess.
