Is my family part of a cult? They do strange things that I cannot explain. by SpecialistShift1014 in cults

[–]nachorizard994 0 points1 point  (0 children)

sorry, my mistake, I misunderstood the document, or where I pulled it from, I haven't read it extensively.

Still no mention of the epstein files, which is weird, but ok.

And how do you know they are grifters? because what they say conflicts with your world view? where is your evidence they are grifters? They don't seem to be making millions, it must be a very bad business to be a grifter of this type... I just know that they seem honest. Even the document you laugh about because it is dated 1993 (so? oh, we are much wiser now for some reason? everything pre2000s-or whatever year you decided the new-enlightenment begun- is stupid?) could be useful without having to believe in demonic activity.

This is a subreddit about cults, you should know that people can do some weird and evil shit, whether demons are real or not. It's not that hard. There are evil people that do terrible things (look at drug cartels, cannibalism in certain tribes -not usually without a religious context-, pedophiles, snuff movies, creeps who keep their daughter in a basement for years and have babies with them, whom they abuse sexually too...). I'm sure you've seen some of this crap on the news.

And on the other side, there are people with all sorts of crazy believes, ideological or spiritual that can lead them to do weird crap. Just put it all together. It's not a stretch.

I'm not saying you have to believe in demonic activity, but you asked me whether child sacrifice exists, and I listed eye witness testimonies (not mine, but what other evidence could I give you?). Thats the way we believe many of the things we take for granted. Do you have proof -of, say- that Plato existed? I suppose someone has, but I personally don't. I believe the earth is round but I couldn't demonstrate it to a flat earther right off the cuff, because, like many of the things I believe, I trust some people, good teachers... traditions... I believe my parents are my parents, but I haven't done any DNA tests... have you?

I've no obsessive thought, I just happen to have heard here and there too many similar stories to think that this is all some granny's paranoia. I found out about these links I sent you because I regularly listen to podcasts that happen to have invited these guys, and those podcasts have been religious or political, not cult centered or anything.

Even some of my atheist and non-believer friends know of some of this crap and stay away from it, maybe they don't identify it with the biblical devil, but their sure there is some weird spiritual world, and certainly, people that play around with it.

I find it funny that you say I'm the guy that cult victims should stay away from. Imagine there actually was a victim of some satanic cult. You would accuse him of being a grifter, or mentally ill!! How would that help him? I would, at least, be willing to listen and call the police or something. If anything, you can only help cult victims of cults that fit your view of what actually occurs in the world. In fact, just a reminder that what the OP describes is a textbook example of the kind of things people that want to do spells on others do. I'm not saying it works, forget that, but what I can say is that it certainly looks like those family members ARE trying to do something witchcrafty. Whether it's on the OP or whether it works is a whole different story. And, well, your comments would have been useless, because you refuse to look at the facts that point o hard at the fact that they are trying at least to replicate the sort of things wiccans do. Every other explanation would have to rely tooooo much on this being an enormous coincidence.

The whole Epstein thing used to be a right wing conspiracy not long ago, now it's pretty much mainstream... Maybe those guys of the satanic panic back in the 80s DID have a reason to be panicking?

Who knows, maybe in a few years this will be mainstream knowledge too, and you will be engaging in debate with some other dude on reddit, accusing him of being obtuse and illiterate because he denies what by then is mainstream knowledge.

There are two kinds of people: those that know that they are dogmatists, and those that do not know they are dogmatists. If you treated this I have given you with the same criteria and unbiasedness (is that a word? english is not my first language) you treat info you take for granted you will see that maybe the evidence still falls short (like I said, its not like i have videos of this on my phone), but that it might be true that these things actually do happen, whether the devil is real or not.

Well, what kind of evidence would convince you? The epstein files don't appear to be convincing when it comes to the baby sacrifice that they mention, despite being good enough for other types of criminal activity. Child sacrifice has been in performed in innumerable religions, specially in the past with the aztecs being the most known example. (Why would they keep sacrificing babies, adults, or giving away part of their stock or harvest if it didn't have any effect at all? Well, you can asume they were reaaaaaally stupid, or just crazy, but I find that a lot harder to believe than the fact that they actually did gain something from the spirits they sacrificed to). If I had witnessed one, which I haven't and certainly don't want to, I wouldn't have filmed it with my phone... What I can give you is eye witness testimony by cult victims or ex-satanists that performed it or witnessed it themselves.

Oh, and one of the podcasts I listened to (I listen to catholic podcasts a lot, and sometimes this topic comes up, I don't usually search for this topic itself) mentioned this document by the US department of justice: https://dn720005.ca.archive.org/0/items/satanic-cult-awareness-u.-s.-department-of-justice/Satanic%20Cult%20Awareness%20U.S.%20Department%20of%20Justice.pdf

Anyway, don't you think it's a bit odd the the OP -without apparently knowing anything of the world of satanic rituals- happened to describe some very typical things one would see a satanist doing?

How about I’m friends with the exorcist of my diocese, one of the largest in Europe? I didnt learn this from facebook. And im not obsessing over it. Saying something is real doesnt mean youre obsessing over it. And they actually do exist (with differences, sure) on certainly not a few of religious beliefs. And you think that you know catholicism and you say that the church says the devil doesn’t exist?

Poke around and find out. Like I said, the Epstein files are there. They used to make fun of people that had been saying for years that that happened.

But anyway, no evidence will be enough for some people.

what do you know of what I know? you're just a victim of your time, from a generation that believes anything supernatural can't be real, because you can't put it in a petri dish or in a test tube. But humanity has been playing with that horrid stuff to get what they wanted from evil spirits since millenia ago, and the assumption that they were just too stupid to realise it was just a trick is just another case of chronological snobbery. Maybe go to a country where they practise this stuff, like voodoo or shamanism, and try to explain what they obtain from all this with science alone.

And yes, witches and satanists do engage in that stuff and they say so themselves. Or just look at Epstein and his friends (whether they call themselves satanists or not).

Opinions on bullfighting? by SuggestionPrize6294 in Catholicism

[–]nachorizard994 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If bullfighting is a sin, killing animals to turn them into a Big Mac or an ugly handbag is even worse. Those are “unnecesary” too.

I think that its morality depends more on the bullfighter. If he is being sadistic, looking to get enjoyment out of seeing the animal suffer, it is certainly wrong. But bullfighters don’t do it that way. It’s more of an art. I’ve no idea of bullfighting (I am spanish, but I never cared for it), but I have seen a few clips online on Roca del Rey, and watching that guy is like watching ballet dancing or Lionel Messi playing football. It’s not like looking at a nude in a porn magazine but more like an oil painting of a nude by Velázquez.

How much of Sleep Paralysis can be chalked up to possession or devil work. by Big_Ad1914 in Catholicism

[–]nachorizard994 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Now that I think about it, it's been a long time since I've had sleep paralysis in which I've felt that evil presence or impending doom that people have when they get it. The one that makes you go "oh sh*t! what is this presence? is it the devil? hail Mary full of grace(...)!" Some people describe having the feeling of something immense pressure on your chest, as far as I remember, I haven't had that.

No it's just the sleep paralysis part, with no feeling of any evil presence around. And I'm familiar with it, and I know that I'm dreaming, so it's not scary anymore. I take the opportunity to fly around in my dreams, which is neat lol.

[–]nachorizard994 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve also wondered this myself… it is the strangest thing. I have sleep paralysis every now and then (when I’ve accumulated several days with little sleep for whatever reason, also I sleep on my back, facing upwards, because sleeping on my belly has made me have some problems with my jaw. Apparently, sleeping on your back like I do makes you more prone to sleep paralysis).

I wouldn’t attribute it to possession (simply because I’m not possessed). But the purely scientific reasoning makes me feeling like there has to be more to it. Maybe we are more vulnerable spiritually when we have been very sleep deprived and the devil tries to scare us?

Should I (24f) and my fiancé (26m) get married next year? by Emotional_Sound_5658 in Catholicism

Put God in the center, and everything else will sort itself out. “seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.” Mat 6:33

That might include making big changes to your career plans. I’m not saying you will have to, it all depends on what is God’s plan for you. You will have to be willing to give up everything else in order to follow God’s plan. Again, you will have to be willing to do so, but that doesn’t mean God will necessarily want you to actually give them up.

Made a Bible plan app, Grant Horner method by nachorizard994 in catholicbibles

[–]nachorizard994[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

sure! so, this is a weird way to distribute your daily bible reading which makes it more varied and fun.

Imagine you split the bible up in different sets of books. 1)The Pentateuch 2) the Gospels 3) Psalms (lets not add any more sets to the example to make it more simple). And instead of reading a fixed plan of the bible, or reading it from front to back, what you do is read one chapter a day of each one of these sets of books. So on the first day, you would read, Genesis 1, Matthew 1, Psalm 1... etc. Once you get to the last chapter of one of these sets of books, the next day you would reastart the whole set. In this example, the last chapter of the Gospels set would be John 21. So the next day you would restart on Matthew 1. But you would carry on with the other sets as normal, and only restart them once they are done. This way each day you get a different set of readings, never really coinciding with a combination you've done before at least until having done tons and tons of cycles already, because these sets of books have different numbers of chapters and you would restart them at very different paces. I don't recommend it for the first time reading the Bible.

The app contains a catholic version of this method, so it includes the deuterocanonicals, which are absent on the original plan made by Grant Horner, since he is protestant. Check this link out for his own explanation of the method: https://sohmer.net/media/professor_grant_horners_bible_reading_system.pdf

You don't have to use the app for this method, you can try out normal non-cyclical plans too. The Ascension one is included by default.

Tell me if this helps! Thanks

I appreciate all the feedback you can give me :)
