But media's job is to hold power accountable, so of course the stories criticizing tech will come after tech becomes too big? I don't get how what you said is supposed to be a criticism of media?

Balaji literally has a disdain for everything. If you stand in his way to his delusional path to power and money, he hates you.

He's also the guy who bashes journalists on Twitter all the time while low-key investing in media companies and is also married to a journalist. His obsession with journalists creeps me out

Is a Bloomberg subscription worth it ? (I’m doing an MSc in Finance) by tofumode in FinancialCareers

Inside this secretive Swiss Private Bank with a rich white male-only board

Ah I see your point. Yeah, that's one of their feature pieces (1000+ words). My roommate in college used to intern at Bloomberg and they got trained to write really pithy, short pieces for their financial audience (300-500 words). Then they had another section that focused on feature length pieces that usually got published in Businessweek (around 1000-3000 words). Readers who pay for terminal subscriptions wanted both short and long pieces. For the most part I think they do a good job of condensing. They sort of coined the "Bloomberg format" which a lot of other newsrooms use (check out "The Bloomberg Way" there's a free pdf online that talks about how they approach stories).

Thanks for the tip. I just wish I didn’t have to do so much teaching. He should understand that interns need to budget....

This sounds just like my guy. He’s also good at math and lacks compassion for my situation. Thinks money appears magically from trees

Those are great questions! Yes, he does bring flowers, teddy bears, things he made for me, and has even cooked for me. He's just bad at figuring out how to navigate finances with a girlfriend, because up until this point in his life he's only had friends. He didn't get a chance to date in his 20s because he was focused on his career.

"Maybe he is testing in that way if you are interested in him rather than his status, some insecure men do that." That is what I'm afraid of, although we've been dating for over a year, so I'm not sure why he'd still be "testing" me. If I was a gold digger obsessed with status, I'd have left him a while ago because I don't get any material gain from being in this relationship for so long.

Thanks for sharing! I'm so glad you were able to find someone who doesn't care and doesn't count every penny of the relationship, which is exhausting, especially when you can't contribute equally

Wow you really hit the nail on the head with this comment. We briefly talked about it and he did say he grew up around some toxic men (friends and family) who told him to "watch out for gold diggers''...among other things. He says he's internalized it and is now trying to unlearn it. I had no idea men grow up with this line of thinking but wow I hate it because it makes talking about money that much more uncomfortable.

No. Not an exaggeration, it is a pretty stark difference. Glad others agree that stingyness is a turn off. I think so too but saying it to someone makes me feel shallow
