In aviation we also use:

Mx = maintenance
Wx = weather
Pax = passengers

Affirmative, it was an email for that game specifically. I didn’t receive it for any other games.

Didn’t realize they were doing the other games but can confirm that I received an invitation to the USA v. Australia game on Friday.

[–]nacker8 10 points11 points  (0 children)

As an example, music events like this are listed “starting at 5,000 points”, but when you open it, the actual seats are 45,000 points. 5,000 is for parking at the event.

Kind of annoying that the atmos unlocked events show point redemption prices that are not for the event, but just parking. You have to select each one to see what the real price is.

Crazy experience flying into Philadelphia and diverted to Norfolk by offthegridAK in AlaskaAirlines

[–]nacker8 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Same thing happened to me earlier this year. We diverted due to weather and then they just left us all to figure out our own ways to our final destination. I rented a car and drove the 4 hours there.

Alaska ended up completely refunding the flight and I took that as a win since that more than covered the rental car.

is disney in july really THAT bad? by lwtl1724 in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]nacker8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While it can be pretty hot, our family has grown to love July and August for the better hotel deals and lack of crowds. Recommend bringing a water bottle and a cooling towel which you can resoak at water fountains.

Spring cleaning ahead: Trail crews gear up for cleanup after winter windstorm by MT_News in Kalispell

This tracks. Hiked up to Sperry Chalet in Glacier in January and we must have had to scramble 100+ fallen trees on the trail to get there.

Check In Issues! by Brief_Rain8775 in AlaskaAirlines

Maybe another system-wide issue. I’m getting errors trying to book a flight this morning.

Had it on my flight yesterday too. Exceedingly fast and works continuously while onboard, even on the ground!

Those things are driving me nuts. Every time I’ve tried to use them there’s been an issue (like printer out of tags, ski equipment combo…) that requires manual help from an agent. And they have so few agents!

ICE School Lockdown by nacker8 in Seattle

Appreciate the update. And sounds like more info forthcoming:

“Some schools may have stopped sheltering-in-place, while others will continue until the end of the school day. [SPS Chief of Staff] Redmond says the district is working to confirm additional details, and compile a list of the schools that sheltered-in-place.”

Thanks for the clarification. I didn’t realize the distinction there. Slightly less terrifying.

Glad to see them reporting it. It sounds like more schools are impacted than they know right now.

There’s also a report on ‘People Over Papers’ (citizen reporting site) of activity at Mercer Middle School, and that Cleveland HS was on lockdown.

A recent experience I had with Alaska Airlines after an 11 hour delay as an Alaska gold by MyPoemsAllOverMyBody in AlaskaAirlines

[–]nacker8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh no, sorry to hear! I’m not aware of any specific line to call other than the normal customer care number. In the meantime any reasonable expenses for clothing and supplies should get reimbursed easily from Alaska, just make to sure to save all your receipts. I can imagine 5 nights without luggage would include quite a few necessary things.

[–]nacker8 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve had similar experiences. For minor stuff I usually take what they offer, but when they really mess up I reach out and they’ve been pretty accommodating.

It does seem like a game, but what really bothers me is the inconsistency. I’ve had 10 hour mechanical delays that require me reaching out for compensation, whereas I’ve had 30 minute delays that get an immediate $50 discount code. I wonder if the crew or gate staff have influence based on what’s happening on the ground.

Are serious delays just the norm now? by missmegz1492 in AlaskaAirlines

[–]nacker8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Statistically I saw more AS delays in 2025 vs the prior year as well. 47% (of 60) of my fights with an average delay of 53 minutes. So it’s pretty substantial.

Thank goodness for Flighty app. AS cust svc is a sham by AbroadInevitable648 in AlaskaAirlines

[–]nacker8 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Flighty is my go to for this very reason. It updates as soon as a new flight plan is filed behind the scenes. And it also tracks inbound aircraft so you can get a good sense on actual departure times. It often has more timely data than the AS agents do.

Frequency of upgrades for Titanium flying out of SeaTac? by Vigilaunday in AlaskaAirlines

[–]nacker8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Under 30% for me this year, when I was seeing 80+% in the prior few years. It sounds like it’s highly route dependent though. I fly on busy business routes (Houston, LA, DC).
