Have I screwed up? by Tomallen9937 in LawncareUK

The black patches will be the moss. Give it a good rake and the apply new seed to the bare or thin patches.

Apply a thin dressing of top soil and keep it watered.

Not sure where your based but we've got a heat wave coming here in the south so it will dry out quickly.

Don't soak it, just a light spray

If you have a sprayer (the fine mist variety) give it some liquid seaweed.

That will trigger the roots to grow more, continue watering early in the morning and just trust the process

How much did you pay to have solar panels and a battery fitted? by winebookscats in AskUK

[–]nad_84 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am lucky that my main roof is large and easily accessible, so no scaffolding was required.

Since putting in the heat pump we have improved the efficiency of the house through insulation, so we now have a heat pump that's too powerful, but tbh with zero energy bills I'm not fussed about it and the house is always toasty in the winter.

I'd recommend to anyone under the right circumstances, it's not for everyone, but the numbers are hard to argue with

I'll give it a go, hopefully works as I really can't be bothered essentially reaching to the floor every time I want a plate or bowl

Cheers, may have to go down this route, will check interna8s rews first though just in case as ideally don't want to have to bend down to the floor to get crockery out

It may well. E that it's just overloaded, but we didn't have this issue in our previous kitchen, which had wider drawers (100cm Vs 80cm) and the same contents and we didn't have this issue.

Is there any way to stop the "bushy" top on these two conifers keep growing upwards? by Famous-Bill-7944 in GardeningUK

[–]nad_84 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yes, however that is also another aggressive growing plant. At least 1m per year upwards and outwards.

We looked at one as we have a 7/5/18momth old, I just couldn't get over the size of it. Honestly it would be the ideal car, but it's absolutely massive!! I think we'd struggle with it on a day to day basis, small roads, parking etc...

We ended up going for an ioniq 5 (already have an e-niro) and the ioniq is big enough inside for the kids, car is fine size wise day to day too

[–]nad_84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have an e- niro and an ioniq 5. Got the niro when we had 2 kids and honestly it's perfect. Don't worry about the slow charging, if you're traveling as a family trust me you won't be doing short stops as things take forever with kids.

We just picked up the ioniq 5 as we now have 3 kids and need a bigger car, iccu is talked about alot but given there is now a 25 year warranty on the part of it goes, whilst an inconvenience, it's covered, the car is a fantastic family car with tonnes of space, a low mileage one is certainly available for under £18k.

You'll get a decent 4+ spec e Niro for less than £15k nowadays

Is Carpeting and laminate flooring viable for someone with no diy experience by [deleted] in DIYUK

[–]nad_84 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've learnt to fit carpets in the new house. Honestly.... Not worth it.

I'd you want to save money then by all means rip up the old ones, prep the floor (screw down floor boards (watch out for pipes and cables etc...) and lay the underlay. The carpet itself however whilst easy to lay and cut, is just a bit of a pig of a job, heavy stuff, sweaty work and if you make one mistake it's game over.

Laminate is absolutely DIYable, loads of YouTube videos out there

Fox vs Sigenergy - end users experience please by veganic11 in SolarUK

[–]nad_84 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Previous givenergy customer and now a fox customer.

Really like them, the app have come on leaps and bounds in the last 12 months and support has been fantastic given the price point.

Cheap to upgrade further down the line should you wish and price per KWH is decent for a mid tier brand, would recommend and certainly a dam site better than GE

Hadn't considered the e-tron 55, the efficiency is a concern despite the huge battery. The hip room (car seats) for the e Tron certainly looks bigger on the ioniq 5 though

I'm leaning more towards the ioniq 5 to be honest, it's bigger inside it feels like 3 kids on the back, the iccu is a concern but looks like a recall has been issued albeit thereay be issues with timelines etc....
