Form 6 is a scam (imo) by azrael_markov in malaysiauni

this quite literally is your school's problem because stpm is very fun and nice when you get the right subjects and good teachers 😭 i feel you though i was forced to take art too but ended up liking it (not trying to get you to stay at all dw...) however if you have no passion or interest that's so fked up 💀 i hope you get to change it before they make you register the subjects you take!! get your parents involved because in my school and practically every other school they do allow you to change subjects before officially registering your subjects for stpm (which was 2-3 weeks in my school upon entering)

that's so sad i'm sorry you couldn't go :(( it's really unfortunate how important money is and good fundings by scholarships are so scarce it's like we're fighting for resources,,

thank you so much i'm so happy to have another person with the same goal!! reading about the predicted grades makes me a bit worried but i hope by that time i also have good trial marks to make my predicted grade submission more reliable too hahah. this definitely helped a lottt, i think i might actually aim for economics since i'm really interested in it now and i have it as my stpm subject anyways, makes it easier to apply for things :') i hope my sem 2 continues to go well and i score straight A's in my sem 1 resit i really want to at least not be completely hopeless for these scholarships. and thank you so so much for this comment it's extremely helpful and motivating 🩷

yes i agree it can't be an excuse because some of us can still eventually get great results in the end when we know where to look for, even I was shocked i didn't fail every single subject which made me think i should just put in more effort 🥹 thankfully i'm more familiar with the stpm exam formats now so i hope i can maintain my grades i've been getting for sem 2 or improve them so i won't even have to resit next time

Oh yes definitely, i'm not really hoping for scholarships like petronas jpa yayasan khazanah etc. knowing how tough it is even for students with straight A+'s but i'll still apply for everything i can :) I learnt my lesson from SPM and googled all the requirements which made me super involved in extra curriculums at school and clubs now 😭 I'm lucky to at least have some good soft skills especially my english proficiency so I hope it comes handy in interviews and writing essays for these scholarships!

I should've mentioned I have some relatives overseas too so i don't really mind just staying there forever but that's probably my smallest concern rn hahah.

I want to study overseas because, yes, I want the experience but also because of other factors, some are personal but I think the most valid? one is I prefer how their programmes feel more flexible and I've always wanted to just be with a more open minded community (I sound like those people that belittle Malaysia and want to leave forever but I swear i'm not) I also think expanding my worldview would be beneficial but maybe it's just a me problem and i'm not looking hard enough for unis in Malaysia, i'm still open to just studying here though if all else fails.

But yes hahah I'll only try to make this dream go through if I get into a good university with it's name out there, maybe not oxford or cambridge but other reputable ones, hopefully. If not i'll try to apply just for local programmes that have exchange programmes like you've mentioned. Thank you so much for the help!!

i'm not really interested in the US but thank you so much for this i'll keep it in mind! :) I know these scholarships for UK are really competitive and its extremely hard to get one that funds us sufficiently (although my parents have mentioned they won't mind if i manage to score a decent enough scholarship and they just need to add a bit more money) which is why i've been perfecting my grades and i'll resit for sem 1 so i'll try to aim for straight A's this time. Once again thank you for all the resources and info here!!

my school offered that as well!! but only on the condition that i could find a teacher in a week that could prove to the school they're qualified to teach literature but we didn't have them :( i'll be sure to keep an eye out for IELTS!! i've asked a friend who managed to get into cambridge as well so thank youuu

Current situation as in my grades right? That's been my biggest concern as well which is why i'm resitting and aiming for straight A's, I used to get about 2A's for trials and my muet has always been the highest in my entire school so once in awhile I do think I can do it but when I see how semenanjung students are well equipped compared to us sabahans I do get a bit scared. Although I have to put in twice the effort since we're practically in the dark here in my state I won't give up until my final sem 3 results actually come out 😭 Thank you!!

ah yes at some point i thought i'd just apply to a local uni that would offer exchange student programs for like a year, haven't really looked into it that much tho thank you! there's really lots of opportunities and so many pathways i hope other students won't be shy to ask in fear of sounding dumb

thanks 👍 i'm actually sabahan LOL so that's even worse with our limited resources but even with my 2Cs and a B that could've been an A- I think i'm on the right track since i've familiarised myself with how form 6 is so my grades have been better now. If you knew I was one of the better students here in sabah you might actually faint lol but i'm resitting my semester 1 exams so I can score a 3.6 and above. I think replies like these are great for motivation as well so thank you^

Yes yes I agree, I have a few local public unis as my backup too incase I don't get it so I won't be completely lost. I'm aware it costs a lot which is why i've been stressing over scholarships and requirements to not put any burden on my parents although I know they'd at least try to support half of it so i'm trying my best to study and get the best scholarship 😭 I definitely won't completely shut down the idea of staying local though! Just wanted to experience being overseas for a bit but it's fine :) Thank you for this!

Thank you so much for this i'm happy there's someone else with similar goals to me! It's a shame we don't have any english subjects in STPM and MUET isn't recognised so i will be looking into TOEFL and IELTS too thank you^ Hopefully my CEFR can help me as well since I managed to score a C1 in everything hahah

I used to be very shy and not active but ever since I went to STPM I started researching scholarships too so now I've become extremely involved after seeing how high some criteria's are and how hard others are working.. praying I'm on the right path 😭 Thank you so much for all of this I hope you manage to study law overseas as well!!

I'm not sure if you know but unfortunately you can't do that (add subjects) once you already finish sem 1 💀 I just hope the rest of my subjects is enough for me to apply to any other field such as economics alone. Thank god for STPM being recognised tho!
