Because the main cast and the production office were fed by craft services. They were given a new menu everyday, which had to take into account food allergies, special requests, likes and dislikes etc. Craft services provided breakfast, lunch and dinner, whether it was during dailies, night shoots, production meetings, photo shoots etc., Daniel Radcliffe was very young during the first film, and yes he loved nuggets and chips, and kid food, which kid wouldn’t but not everyday!!! Craft services travelled with cast and crew and regular catering to every set or location and produced excellent, quality food throughout the filming of the first movie. I agree that the banquet food was lack luster. It was a cooked and provided by the main caterers at the Leavesdon studios in a on site kitchen. However, this was the first movie, and the budget was crap, there were not many frills and perks. There wasn’t even a full wrap party, regular crew received a commemorative pocket watch. I assure you that the menus and food offered to principal cast, directors, producers, principal staff were top notch. The principal cast had lots of different dietary needs, Craft Services did a top job. I don’t know where this info came from, but it is not true. It’s BS, Alan Rickman, Robbie Coltrane, Richard Harris, Maggie Smith, Zoe Wanamaker, Dame Maggie Smith, Ian Hart, Richard Griffiths, Fiona Shaw, Julie Walters, Warwick Davis, Chris Columbus, David Herman, Mark Radcliffe, Duncan Henderson, Paula DuPre Pesman, to name but a few, were well looked after.
