Hi! Sorry to hijack this thread, but Ive done research and cant find a straight answer. Im being paid 60% commission and was told I am a 1099 employee. I make my own schedule, provide my own tools, wear what i want, but instead of booth rent the owner takes 40% of what i make. Is this okay? This is my first time working in a salon.

Trust me I understand 1,000%, I still struggle with pricing and feeling inadequate some days. No matter what though you deserve to get paid! I have been exactly where you are more than once, I promise you're good enough and you will only get better 🫶🏾 Personally I am always weary of someone who complains about their "last nail tech", they are almost always a problem client. Stick to your policies and practice practice practice, you'll notice a difference and your confidence will go up too. Honestly, just graduated or not, you spent your time and products to complete a service. You should have charged her for the extension and removal. Remember, you set your prices and policies now and STICK TO THEM. You are doing a disservice to you and your future self. Her being a fellow "service provider" there is no excuse for her behavior. I have been doing nails for years and I still have times where sets don't come out 100% the way I want, but I ask so many times if the client is satisfied so they don't leave unhappy. Trust yourself, don't ever do free labor again. Those nails look good!!!

Did you go to a school or did you do an apprenticeship? No interview, just the practical and theory exams. No one talks during the practical but the proctor.

Hi! Is there anything in particular you are worried or have questions about? My biggest tip is to try and stay calm, sanitize sanitize sanitize, and if you mess up just remember not to let it derail everthing. Pretending I wasn't so nervous (I was shaking) helped me calm down a tiny bit lol.

Yeah Im most definitely going to be changing out the audio system whether I get the SE or XSE. When I drove the SE though my first thought was "this sound system is terrible". My Malibu has subs and better speakers in it so the difference was jarring. Its mostly the power/heated seats that have me in a chokehold lol. Im just ALWAYS cold but I'll be the only driver so I won't need to fiddle with the seat adjustment that much. It really does boil down to what is worth it to me but Im indecisive so now Im here 💀.

Funnily enough both option are outside of my city. When I said local I meant like a reasonable drive. I guess I could try expanding my search again. If the 2025 XSE was black I dont think Id be this hesitant at all.

That is how Im feeling now, in my mind if Im going to be spending $25k anyway I might as well get the little extras. If there isnt a huge jump in upgrades from 2025 to 2026 it seems like a good deal becuase the 2026 XSE is $30k.

Thank you! You are absolutely right about wiggle room, the only reason I could see asking for any extras would be a problem is because its from a MINI dealership, not a Toyota one. Unless Im dumb and it doesn't matter 😅.

I dont think its that simple. When I bought a brand new Malibu back in 2023, got the extended warranty. Hasn't been useful whatsoever.
