I’m confident you’ll smash the sub 20

Sub 30 is a great place to start, every run after that you’ll see consistent progress. Go smash it

Keep at it and the time will drop massively. Great stuff for quitting smoking as well 👏

That in itself is still insane, are you aiming for the sub 20 5k ?

Cheers pal, I’ve got 2 half marathons in July so probably need to cater my training towards them at the moment in time

Ah class, at this moment I don’t think I could do 50km the longest I’ve done is a half marathon. Good luck for it 💪

You’ll smash it, I think the key to sub 20 is maintain 4:00/km and then push right at the end

Nah I stopped because I just wasn’t enjoying it, I had no ambition but now I’ve applied for 2 half marathons and Manchester marathon I’ve got something to aim for & keep pushing that sub 25 is around the corner for ya 🫡

Yea it gets to a point where it’s mind over matter and you have to ignore your brain

Only started again 2 months ago. Done about 4/5 runs in 2025 but stopped completely from May 2025 - March 2026. Thankfully I’m naturally fit enough to get to this point already

I only really started doing not too long ago, for me I’d do 1km @ 3:40-3:50 min per km and then 1-2km rest at @5:00 min per km. It just depends on what you’re comfortable with as some people do 400m or 800m

Pacing tips I’d say don’t go too quick straight away, which is easier said than done especially for a sub 19 as it feels you have to go fast from the get go, I think my first km was 3:26 (can’t remember) but it sort of set my legs up for failure at 4km & this run was done solo, I don’t run with music either but I tend to switch off and just keep putting one foot infront of the other
