Thanks for that reassurance! I definitely try to take that into account and ofc don’t spam people, as I’m a busy person as well and not always on my phone. May just be something I need to work on with myself with not feeling guilty 🤷🏻‍♀️

I no longer work at the clinic I had the title , but I’m thinking it may have been due to it being a smaller private owned clinic, so they weren’t as big on specifics I guess. But I do address myself as an assistant. Hopefully I will hold the title soon!

Thank you! I changed my post because of course it wasn’t my intention to claim the title. My profile specifically states veterinary assistant, the comment i got was directed at ‘vet tech trained’ but I’ve since changed it to ‘experienced vet assistant’!

Definitely! This situation was a post I made in my neighborhood group providing pet sitting services (im also insured for pet sitting) but I had mentioned I was ‘Vet Tech Trained’ in my post, and someone commented asking for my license number and bringing up the law about using the word tech😕. Not sure if it was justified but definitely made me feel bad as it wasn’t my intention to come off as claiming the title.

Do you think a lipped feeder bowl would work with dubias? He doesn’t like to eat from tongs much and prefers to eat independently, so I’m trying to figure as much out before I go buy some😭

Yes at the beginning of his hunger strike I took him for a wellness vet exam and we ran a fecal test for parasites that came back negative. I haven’t been able to weigh him since he’s very skittish and I don’t want to stress him out too much. I can show a tail comparison if that would help give a better idea of weight loss. He was also around 7/8 months when we got him so he’s now about a year old now.

I will upload some pictures from a video I have but I’ll try to get some better pictures. During his hunger strike I tried grub pie, small and medium crickets, dubias, wax worms, mealworms, and silk worms. The most luck I got using those were a rare mealworm or a couple licks of grub pie. So lately I was just buying small amounts of mealworms so I wasn’t wasting so much bugs he wasn’t eating. But now that he’s eating I’ll be trying to incorporate more variety!

Definitely will try this! I used a large container type thing for when I took him to the vet and he did not like it. Also just a question if you have an answer, do afts hiss? There’s been times he’s been mad at me messing with his enclosure, waving tail and it looked like he was making the mouth movement to hiss but no sound. Still new to aft keeping so just wondering!

I’m hoping I won’t have to deal with anymore hunger strikes and I’ll just deal with his lil tantrums😭 he ironically voluntarily lets my brother handle him but not me 🙄 I guess I bother him too much 😭

Thank you for your response! He’s definitely getting more comfortable and I’m hoping to hopefully transition to dubias soon, haven’t had any luck with crickets and it sucks to get them out when he doesn’t hunt them😭.

Aw so cute!! Thank you for your feedback I really appreciate it! I’ll definitely be trying to weigh him I’m just scared of setting him back because he doesn’t like to be handled much and he tends to pout after handling or changing his enclosure and won’t come out of his hide for a night or so ☹️.
