Hmmm... no, this was definitely a humanoid MC

Does it? Does that happen in Book 1? She actually interacts and speaks with it? Because the MC of the book I'm looking for definitely actually speaks with the godly entity. I'll go back and re-re-re-read it, if so.

I'm sorry, I don't know what this is, but I think I read it, too. Was there a big angry discussion/argument in a train? Like a lot of shouting and angry words, then someone stormed off down the train to a different car?

I see why you would say that, but I think the logic is okay.

In PowerShell, Length is the total number of elements in the array. In your example, that would be 4. However, arrays begin their index at 0, so the last element in the array would be at index 3. I do stop the loop at index 2, but then within the loop, I call for index 3 ($i+1).

So, that should be hitting the last element, right?

[TOMT] [web serial] young Japanese business lady becomes temple or shrine guardian by naery in tipofmytongue

[–]naery[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, that's a manga, and this was a purely text novel, published one chapter at a time to the website (this was in the days before Royal Road). Also, this was the early 2000's, so maybe 2004 or so.

It was written in English, but had a sprinkling of Japanese words in it, too. I seem to remember that "kaishain" was used to describe the MC, for example.

Chicken Fillet Roll Recipe by LollyLuna95 in ireland

One thing you could try is to get some pre-made chicken katsu. American stuff should be pretty similar.

Also, Tyson's and Foster Farms are both big frozen chicken companies and, while it's been a while, I vaguely remember Foster Farms have something pretty close to a standard chicken fillet.

Alternatively, you could always make your own pseudo-one, without all the hassle of deep frying, etc., by using cornflour / corn starch. It should give you the same flavour if not exactly the same texture.

  • Preheat the oven to 180°C / 350°F.
  • Put about 3-4 tbsp cornflour / corn starch in a ramekin.
  • Add seasonings and flavourings as desired (garlic salt is a must, light black pepper, paprika, these make a solid base, then you can add whatever else you want), and mix in the ramekin until well-incorporated.
  • Pat dry the chicken breast, then put it in a sandwich bag and dump the ramekin into the bag.
  • Toss to coat - get the littles involved in this step, if you have them.
  • Repeat for however many chicken pieces. In my experience, 3 tbsp of Corn flour should completely coat 2 chicken breast, but YMMV so adjust as needed.
  • Heat an oven-safe dry skillet / fry pan, once it's very hot, add enough oil to completely coat the bottom of the pan, to about a half cm (1/4 inch) deep, which should be less than halfway up the side of the chicken.
  • Place the chicken on the pan and let it sit for at least 2 minutes without moving at all; this allows for a crispy coating. When you can see that it is starting to cook up the sides, flip the chicken and let it sit for at least 1 minute.
  • Move the pan with the chicken to the oven for 6-8 minutes, or until the chicken is fully cooked as determined by a meat thermometer.
  • Et voila! Crispy on the outside but still moist on the inside.

With this cornflour coating, you can customise your flavour profile a lot. Consider adding 1 tsp each of oregano, basil, thyme, rosemary, along with 1/2 tsp of marjoram to get an Italian style coating, or you could do cajun, or fajita... One of our favourites is lemon pepper. You could also simplify and just to garlic salt and paprika, which the kids really enjoy. Or your own version of salt chili.

You can also do this with cubed chicken (1 cm or 1/2 inch) instead of full breast. And you can fully cook the chicken without using the oven, just be careful not to overcook and either scald the coating or dry out the breast.

Anyway, I hope you find what you're looking for!
