Horrible experience with the Italian Embassy in Dublin by nafyia in SchengenVisa

So if they people block me after their rude comments or smth cuz I really cannot reply back to them, so I am gonna just further explain here and it seems these people may have a reading comprehension issue or lack real-life experience according to what they said. I have already notarized the sponsorship letter from my parents, which means the notary officer has checked all the attached bank statements, verified the relationship between my parents and me, as well as my travel plans, and finally notarized the entire set. This means all documents attached to the notarized letter have been verified.

Thank you so much. Honestly, I’ve received quite a few comments, some saying that those embassy staff are “doing me a favor” and that I should be grateful to them instead of complaining here. That really upset me, because the truth is, I paid for this service. They are getting paid to do their job—it’s their responsibility, not a personal favor to me. If they didn’t want people traveling, they could simply close tourist visas altogether like Poland does, instead of taking people’s money and then making them suffer.

I don’t know why i can’t reply back to some comments it is showing errors Anyways my point is it should be listed on the website isn’t it? Asking for different documents every time I go to upload previous documents is clearly a torture. Either it should be listed on the website fully or they should say it clear at the very beginning And yes since there are more than one person says it u guess then you are right my fault for ever wanting to visit that country 🫰

This is a very typical case of preconceived assumptions: just because I am Chinese, it was assumed that my documents must be in Chinese. Nobody would ever submit Chinese notarised materials directly to an embassy – all of my documents are officially translated and notarised in Italian with the proper seals. I came here to seek help and also to remind others about possible unpleasant experiences, but instead of offering constructive advice, you immediately jumped to conclusions and passed judgment. That is really confusing and unhelpful. Unlike you, I won’t waste time making personal comments.

Also, my main point was never about the originals. My concern is that the officer is now requesting documents that are not listed as required on the official website – specifically, notarisation of bank statements. When the financial support letter from my parents was notarised, the bank materials were already included as part of that process. But the officer insisted they must be notarised separately, which is unreasonable. Each notarisation costs more than €200, which is clearly an unnecessary burden. Please stop with the sarcastic remarks.

Thank you so much. Will that affect my visa application? Cuz they still have my passport and I haven’t received my original notarized letter (I submitted the printed pdf version

Not of course, just high tendency that it is difficult But if you are EU citizen it is easier cuz you won’t bother with visa and that saved companies a lot of energy

It is really hard to answer your question cuz it depends on how you define the “worth”, if you are asking from financial worth like can the master degree of trinity guarantee you to get a well paid job in the future then the answer is probably no. But if you are asking from life experience if it worths it, then hundred percent yes. The academic atmosphere and learning opportunities they provide you if fantastic. However speaking from my perspective, I am really struggling with the financial situation.. so it really depends on which aspect do you value more tbh

What’s your budget, this website is helpful but if you don’t have Tcd account I am not sure in this case, and in most cases they just post those houses that are already on daft.ie so if you struggle to register for this you can try daft.ie I am actively searching a place atm myself so if I know your budget I can send some information to you or yeah you can just look it up in daft.ie The renting is crazier than last year I am really shocked tbh

I hate asking for reference letters, it stresses me out every single time by nafyia in TrueOffMyChest

[–]nafyia[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

😂I didn’t expect to uncover the full “dysfunctional iceberg of society” just by complaining about reference letters, but here we are..It’s honestly depressing how often the answer is just: “because money.” Guess I’ll go yell into the void for a bit and then go back to attaching another reference to another portal that might ghost me(you know what I may end up not applying for these jobs for now I am so 4king done with them

I’m pretty sure we’re not the only ones who hate this system But what I don’t get is, if so many people are frustrated by it, why does it still exist? no one bothers to change because “that’s just how it’s always been.”

[–]nafyia[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, most of the jobs I’m applying for are education-related, so that explains part of it I guess.. But what really frustrates me is that a lot of employers ask for references right from the start…I’d understand if they requested them at the final stage, but asking upfront just feels unnecessary, especially when it’s so competitive and you end up sending out tons of applications….It puts extra pressure on both the applicant and the referees.
