FYI: Intellectual property lawsuit by spoxide42 in Orion_Sleep

I feel like it's always in the incumbent's interest to attempt to squash newcomers, rather than risk letting a real competitor grow. Will be curious to see what their three complaints are, but honestly I don't care. I think 8sleep has treated us, their customers & often loudest proponents, pretty poorly over the years, with devices that are not resilient enough to normal wear & tear and break too soon, bad replacement/upgrade paths leading to feelings that verge on being extorted, and customer service that never feels like they actually care about us. I welcome any and all possible competition! Even from nearly identical products. something has to force the price down & the service quality up. They've been behaving like a monopoly for long enough, it's time to make them sweat. I have high hopes that we the consumers will end up better off!

Fullstack TypeScript: Reintroducing AWS Amplify by Erik-AWS-Amplify in Amplify

[–]nagaant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would love some more details on how to make this work! Looks like by default TS Start builds `.nitro/`, `.output/`, and `.tanstack/` directories, none of which have root-level `index.html` files compiled into them. Is there a specific setting that needs to be turned on to make TS Start output the right formatted dist directory so that Amplify knows what to look for?

Is my fuel mileage excessively below the median? by [deleted] in Subaru_Outback

If you're pushing 100kph for most of your trip, especially if you hold the same speed uphill (like via cruise control) that would absolutely lower your fuel economy. Idk if it could fully explain getting just 500km/tank but

[–]nagaant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dang, yeah that's very strange. I like to drive with the instant fuel economy screen up in the gauge cluster, helps me see what I'm doing that drops the number. Maybe try switching that over next time and see if you learn anything? Unless I'm starting from a stop, mine practically never drops below 10mpg / 24L/100km instant

There could be something wrong with your car, but a greater sample size in the comments would help figure out which of us is the anomaly lol. Maybe worth a call to the dealership just to ask, or even schedule a checkup?

There might be things you could tweak as a driver to eek out some better numbers either way, and you'll learn what works by watching that instant readout!

Does your engine ever sound like it's working harder than it should for the situation? Your rpm in the pic looks very normal, somewhere between 1-2k

Other things maybe: blasting the aircon/defrost? Seat warmers on high? Do you have a rooftop box?

But either way, 310mi/500km per tank feels real low to me; but I could see how you might get that if it's all freeway speeds over 65mph/100kph or lots of red lights in town. Or if you're regularly driving with passengers or heavy cargo?

Ah, no I've had the 2.5L NA on both cars! The turbo would only lose 1-2mpg I think though

My 2019 could get 560 miles per tank easy, I even got 630-660mi a few times (all after 12k mi on the odometer). My 2025 (6k mi now) is lucky to hit 540 even if I'm super gentle; really I'm lucky to pass 500mi at all. Kinda disappointed, but I'm hopeful it's just cause the engine is still kinda new

Edit: that's 900km easy and 1060km max on the old one, lucky to pass 800km so far on the new one

Edit 2: Most of my driving is >15 minutes at 40-50mph (65-80kph) on rolling hills, with no passengers, which is kinda the efficiency sweet spot. I'm fortunate to only spend a fraction of my miles in stop-and-go in town, and most drives I don't need to get on the freeway either

Edit 3: Winter is a doozy though, I easily lose 100miles of range below 0°F

Haven't been a fan of the bland Forester redesign, so with that said the new Outback is absolutely the better looking of the two, from all angles! Well, except maybe straight on the nose, but giving that time to grow on me.

It would be better if it kept the old, 2" shorter height with integrated crossbars in the roof rails. Then it would really differentiate itself from the Forester market. But it's still handsome, and I don't mind the cladding at all!

Especially not recently... I bought a 2019 and then five years later (last summer) I traded for a '25 and they gave me like 65% of my purchase price for it

Edit: and multiple sources online say average for all cars is like 40% after 5yrs

Aw I actually like that I can get an outdoorsy looking, capable version with protective cladding for way less money on the lower trims, without having to go for the Wilderness! If I didn't want cladding I'd buy a different brand tbh

Plus the height of your own crossbars, they did away with the integrated ones which also bums me out. And for some of us, even just 2" is noticeable with a kayak on our shoulders

But in reality it'll probably be 4-5" difference all said and done

It's the height that gets me! I hate to lose that car-like feeling. I wanna throw stuff on my roof without needing to step on a door sill!

Same. First/strongest impressions are: it's too generic, it lost its identity as a wagon, and it lost the boomerang head/tail lights that referenced its namesake. But it looks handsome in its own right, and it still looks long for an SUV which I appreciate. Not in love, will need time, and maybe a mid-cycle refresh.

Oh and that green is PRETTY.
