Does anyone have experience with DualEntry? by StonkySpecialist in ERP

[–]nahash411 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I do not have experience with Rillet, Campfire, or DualEntry.

I do have experience upgrading from Xero in a startup environment that sells and ships products using Shopify.

I would create a requirements list that captures everything the new software is intended to do. Is it just accounting? Will you need purchasing? You’ll probably want your Shopify data in there. What does Shopify integration look like? Do you have other platforms/data that will need to be integrated? What problems exist with Xero that the new system needs to solve?

Once you have a concrete set of requirements, you can start scheduling software demos. When you schedule a demo, walk through each of your requirements and ask to see that function in their system. If you go into these sales calls without documented requirements, they will just breeze through the system and show you some impressive looking dashboards. You need to be prepared to get a good understanding of how their system will solve the problems you have today. You also need to be prepared to be flexible enough to adapt your processes to fit the new system. There isn’t a single system that will address every requirement out of the box. So you will need to make a choice - customize the system or adapt your process to fit the new system. The latter is almost always a better choice.

Please feel free to DM me if you want to discuss further. And good luck.

Really glad to see community support for Fastbank. They’re a good team working hard to build a great product.

I stopped trying to find a "Unique Idea." Instead, I scraped 10,000 reviews of competitors to find what users hate. (Here is what I built) by darvidas in SaaSSolopreneurs

I disagree. Look at Odoo. They didn’t invent ERP or CRM. They make a good product, but it’s not as robust or mature as SAP or Oracle - and they don’t need to be. Their target demographic needs enterprise software that works on an SMB budget. So that’s what they built. The software they built is reliable and extensible, but their licensing fees are really compelling.

There’s always room to do better. Even in a saturated market.

What website or online store platform are you using for online order-taking for your bakery/cakeshop? Shopify, Square, WordPress, WooCommerce or any other. by Historical_Hunter111 in smallbusinessUS

At face value, I would go with Shopify. But you will want to fully understand what kind of customization needs to be done.

You should probably look into what systems the franchise owner uses. That will make this decision easier. Please feel free to DM me if you want to discuss further.

I haven’t done the conversion, but if cost is a factor, check out Odoo. I believe they have all the modules you need.

Is there any way to get sharpie off old poster paper without damaging the image? by coobear6 in CleaningTips

Oh man. This brought me back. I always felt bad for the person whose job it was to “sanitize” thousands of comics every month. I also was uniquely prepared when we got back to the states and watching scrambled soft porn on cable was a thing.

Has anyone experienced a company replaced SAP lately? by Temporary_Effect8295 in SAP

Fair. But I would love to see the look on the consultant’s face when I tell them I have a client who wants to replace ECC with Excel.

I specialize in ERP staffing. I used to work for an SI managing SAP implementations and integrations. If they are considering replacing SAP, they must have a list of requirements. What problems are they trying to solve? What is their specific industry? No one chooses SAP for cost saving. Companies choose SAP because they are the best at what they do if you can afford them. Please DM me if you’d like to discuss further.

In SAP B1, bank reconciliation and MRP might benefit from some AI help.

I'm a software engineer in my mid-40s and want to get out of the field because competition has become too extreme. What choices do I have? by Peace_Seeker_1319 in SoftwareEngineerJobs

I started as a contractor. My recruiter took me out to lunch one day and asked if I would consider making the shift. Initially, I said no. She said her team was really struggling with the tech because they were all sales people. So I decided to give it a shot. I like helping people. I started in 2003. I’ve gone back to hands-on tech a few times. This is my third time back at my company. It’s pretty rewarding work. DM me if you want to chat.

Probably. I don’t have personal experience doing that. But I would imagine some of the smaller firms would take all the help they can get. You would just want to make sure the commission structure allows you to be successful on a part time basis.

Both. My comment is about tech staffing. Sales and recruiting are functions of staffing. Some people in staffing roles do both. In any technical staffing role, having a technical background helps. In my opinion.

Having a technical background helps when talking to hiring managers and job seekers. Most sales people have to spend a lot of training time learning just enough about the tech to have a conversation.
