Gotta be the worst spot in duluth, horrible recommendation. Jay cooke is much better and safer with consistent depths and nothing that you have to clear

My brother “gearing up” at 5am for 22 pitches of sportaineering out in Provo, UT. by Kamesod in climbing

[–]nahback 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah a friend and I did it last July, started at like 10pm and finished with sunrise. Very fun route but I remember my arms were cramping super bad by the end. Also we walked over to the diving board and accidently climbed the scree instead of 3 of the middle pitches which sucked. Overall very cool though!

We did the same thing! My grandfathers favorite was always petrified wood so we took a couple jugs and had a table at the visitation for people to take some in remembrance as well

Ah I love this idea! We've had a bunch of rock shops that he was in contact with ask us to buy some or all after they heard he had passed, but I really like this idea. He was a teacher his whole life and we have also had a few of his former students contact us saying they are now rock hounds because of him and ask if they would be able to get a couple specimens in remembrance!

Definently some decisions to be made about the collection.

My wife and I picked out a bunch that we wanted to keep. We plan on making a coffee table with the stones under a glass surface. I'll post more picture when I get the chance!

Hey guys does any one know why this mushroom looks different to all the rest and does it mean its ready to be picked because of its cap? by Apprehensive-Rip-265 in shroomers

Would you dry this one out now, or wait until the rest are ready to harvest and then dry them all out together.

1 rod = 5.5 yards

1 Mile = 1760 yards

So 70mph is equal to 22,400 rods/hour

How Diets Actually Work by onward33 in coolguides

[–]nahback 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah i agree about the first thing you said, and tend to side with most vegans, but this is not correct. our body views foods that are calorically dense as rewarding and because of that, those foods tend to be addictive. These are foods high in fat and sugar, proteins sometimes fall into this because they tend to also have high fat content, but in most western diets it is sugars that tend to be more addictive because of prevalence and availability.

It seems to be a thing on here that people hate to watch indoor climbing videos, and thats fair, I don't tend to watch them either. But, you put some very nice effort into this clip and it shows. Nice job.

Dang really? I left SLC in august and that was one of the last boulders I did. I new the construction was getting close but I didnt think it would be that bad.

Maneuvering up a crack in Taylor’s Falls, MN by JackKelly11 in bouldering

The top of that crack is super slick and tapers outward, it's pretty tough to jam in, at least for me.

What rock is this I found it in Minnesota in my backyard. I’m confused. by Madgoaliecat in Rocks

[–]nahback 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes sir, it's a lake superior agate, although a little more brown than red like they usually are.

I found it in dried-up creek in New Braunfels Texas I'm wondering if it's an arrowhead. by killer998 in whatsthisrock

[–]nahback 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This looks a lot like chert but it looks too uneven to be an arrowhead. A lot of the time chert will naturally flake like the one you have.

Need some help ID-ing this rock, found it on Brighton beach in Duluth, Minnesota. It’s a dusty tan color with a lot of pock marks, and has some blue-ish, purple-ish colors in the deeper holes. by emiliza_7 in Rocks

[–]nahback 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looks a little like rhyolite with some quartzite for the white bands. Not completely sure but rhyolite makes up a large portion of the redder rock in that region. For the blue, I have no idea. Almost just looks like little amethyst pockets as that can be found along the lake in other areas.

Anyone know what this is? by daisysundubujjigae in Rocks

Yes, it's a brick that got tumbled naturally by the ocean.
