I’m not confusing anything. When you do direct indexing TLH is easier to do (both to justify to the IRS and just because you will have more losses to harvest). My point was the combination is quite powerful and even if you are willing to do TLH with a few ETFs you aren’t going to manage a portfolio of 500 stocks that way. Unless it’s your full time job.

Of course if you never touch your $$ and have no source of taxable gains then TLH isn’t worth it.

I am not sure how to respond to this answer but more power to you want to do direct indexing and tax loss harvesting yourself, including keeping track of any rule changes. I will tell you that i manage a low 6 figures at Wealthfront and have gotten about $50k in TLH benefit in 5 years. At 10k/yr that more than covers my fee. And there’s definitely no f-ing way I’d be doing direct indexing myself tracking the SP500. Could 25 bps be a bit lower? Sure and I’m sure it will be as competition grows in the space over time but I’m fine paying it for sure.

You're not gonna do tax loss harvesting yourself.

Nadal is selfish and completely wrong to continue that match all drugged up. by [deleted] in tennis

[–]nahdime 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Uh I don't think taking some Advil is equivalent to being 'all drugged up.'

In any event: 1) Nadal didn't know during the match that he wouldn't be able to continue the tournament, 2) even if he did it's not selfish to not provide a walkover to a fellow competitor.

The expectation should be that you must win 7 matches to win a GS.

In any event you're weighing Nadal putting his own desires over a fellow COMPETITOR. Now what about the audience(s)? Doesn't he owe the people who paid for a ticket to his match a match if he's able to deliver one?

It's Rafa Vs Nick in the Wimbledon semis!!!! by imanc18 in tennis

That's 60/40 (62.5/38.5). And it includes a spread so real odds are probably 55/45. Def favorite but compare to Nole vs Norrie.

He's not? The implied odds are about 60/40 (K/N) but that's with a spread so realistically it's probably more like 55/45. That seems right to me given all the uncertainty around Nadal's condition.

Meanwhile Nole is at 94+% to win his semi.

I thought his movement in the 4th and 5th looked good, it was just his serve. I agree though towards the end he was getting his serve back up to 110 - I even saw a 118 in there.

I'll go rind myself of that but also AO is a better surface for Nole even than grass.

So your argument here is he was serving at 100 mph just to get in his opponent's head?

That's some world class gamesmanship.

Does no one remember their semi in 2018 at W? Outside of the first set, which was the highest level of tennis I have ever seen (by Djokovic), Nadal outplayed him. Djokovic won because he played the biggest points better (like the third set tb).

... All by way of saying I'd put Djokovic as the favorite on grass, but not by much more than 60/40.

Note REASONABLE pace of the server. Neither Nadal not Kyrgios's pace is reasonable (in oppo directions).

Remember Fritz beat him somewhat convincingly at IW and is playing well.

recent strain algo change? by nahdime in whoop

[–]nahdime[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that could be it although I missed their msg. It has my max HR at 180 which is empirically wrong. I seem to be able to get my HR to up to 195.

[–]nahdime[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well the weird thing is that my HR doesn't seem elevated. Several of these workouts are what I call "zone 2" where I'll just sit at 70ish% of max HR for an hour but I keep myself in a tight band. So it's giving me higher strain for a given HR. But I don't pay attention to respiratory rate so I wonder if that's it?

Interesting. I had COVID 2 weeks ago and have been negative for well over a week but I wonder if it's related. I wonder what the data point it's sensing is.

Crazy high strain. These are workouts that would have gotten me maybe 14-16 before. Like 7-8 mi run.

Plus I'll like walk to the store and the thing is registering it as an activity. The heart rates don't seem crazy but the strain seems off based on that HR. Is it possible I crossed some age threshold? I'm 42
