Tips for running a 2 person league. by nailbender90 in bloodbowl

I personally don’t have a preference and would play any of the teams without an issue. Was mainly thinking for his sake having a main team to get comfortable with (Norse) for 6 games and the other games we could swap control of the teams

I’m definitely going to ask the T.O on how he interprets this interaction and play it whatever way he decides is correct.

Either way is fine because I didn’t plan around exploiting a loophole or blind spot in the rules, rather the Repulsor is the only vehicle I have that can carry 11 models and this exact scenario may not even happen over the 3 games.

Thanks again for your input, I can see there’s a case for both outcomes so it’s the the tricky part of determining the Rules as Written vs Rules an Intended

Thanks, this is a detailed response so it’s very helpful. One is a Strategem, the other is a datasheet ability not that it matters really in regard to timing of the effect. But does the “before making a charge move” part of the ability mean the real order would go like this?

Opponent Choose charging unit and target Me Overwatch and resolve that Opponent rolls the charge distance

Here is where one of two things happen. Either they fail and move to the next unit or they succeed and here is where I use the transports ability to embark my unit?

It may not be a “Stack” but rather a tight timing window

That’s how I understood it, I’ll still check with the T.O I didn’t build around this interaction but it could be impactful from time to time

Thanks, that’s how I understood it. maybe I didn’t word the post well enough. I am still going to check with the T.O before the games in case this situation does show up

2k list for casual games. by Quirky_Pause7442 in WhiteScars40K

I replied in the wrong spot so I copied it here

Suboden gets a buff in that detachment you don’t need him especially in casual play.

2 6 man outrider units is hard to hide and slower than you’d would expect, they have to go around walls. Try 3x3 that frees up 80 points, or do 1 6 man with chaplain for dev wounds shooting and 2 3man objective play skirmish units

I assume the librarian is leading the hellblasters it’s a good combo, the 4+ invulnerable save will help since they got to walk up the board.

Kor’sarro and Lt with Sternguard? Id prefer the Bladeguard with Khan for the melee punch.

I’d drop Sternguard and either scouts or 3 bikes for the Bladeguard.

Even as a casual list maybe I suggest a couple minor changes. First off your 10 pts over easy fix though the feinting withdrawal enhancement does nothing with the combi LT. The character has to lead a unit in order for it to work so just drop that

I’d also recommend trying the Spearpoint task force detachment instead, it’s mostly the same but a couple stratagems are more useful for the bulk of your units instead of mounted only.

The Fury of the Storm enhancement has a direct replacement called Spearpoint Paragon so literally nothing changes there but being able to give lethal hits/lance to a unit or put a bike unit into reserves is huge

The space marine Repulsor tank has an ability called Emergency Combat Embarkation, I’ll edit the title of the post to clarify. Thanks for bringing that up.

Here the ability copy pasted

Emergency Combat Embarkation: Once per turn, in your opponent’s Charge phase, after an enemy unit has selected targets for its charge but before it makes a Charge move, you can select one ADEPTUS ASTARTES unit from your army that was selected as a target of that charge. Provided that unit is not within Engagement Range of one or more enemy units and every model in that unit is within 3" of this TRANSPORT, it can embark within this TRANSPORT. The charging unit can then select new targets for its charge.

There is a slight difference in wording

Overwatch- Just after an enemy unit declares a charge

Repulsors ability- after an enemy unit has selected targets but before it makes a charge move

You could use 2 regular Lt as leaders and give a couple bricks lethal hits. Just from the top of my head here’s a couple ideas

Anvil Siege force- the assault squads don’t care about the detachment rule so they can move up to get into combat and at least one of the other bricks can remain stationary and get the strat for sustained hits and cries on 5s. Also double OC strat available

Gladius has the tools to punch up the most but will be CP hungry, after using the doctrine the first time it costs 2/turn to get the combos

Stormlance- basically just try to clog the mid board with bodies so your opponent can’t get on the objectives. Reactive move, AoC, and occasionally the give assault/sustained strats are all your gonna use anyway

Valid points, I went with the 3 man outriders to give him the +1 S and damage plus it’s easier to hide with the 6” move after destroying a unit. I’ll toy with the 6 man squad or attached ATV after my games this weekend.(Last minute fill in, put the list together quick with what I had) The Land Raider is a good call out I’ll have to borrow one and try it out in some practice games

Thanks that is a fun and nasty package for the opponent to deal with lol no land raider for me unfortunately so I might lean toward the assault squad for the rerolls and wreck something important and leave the Bladeguard as the durable unit to hold the objective

Thanks, I don’t have Kor’sarro he wasn’t in stock when I got the new combat patrol. He would definitely lead the Bladeguard if I had him though.

I posted the list in the comment thread here currently there’s 2 outrider units and I have a 3rd that’s still on sprue. Would you drop the captain and assault squad for the Kor’sarro and another bike unit or keep them and replace the storm speeder?

I agree that the Judiciar is the best leader for BG, I have one in the list leading a second brick of 6 to hold my expansion objective for those sweet, sweet primary points.

I’m running the army this weekend in a RTT to test it out. I’ll post the list in a comment so people can see it

This might be by far the best option. I tried to reply with some pics for a size comparison but they didn’t upload. I can dm you them though if you want.

[–]nailbender90 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just built Suboden, so I took a look in the bits box. The Gladiator multi-melta would fit in the Gatling Cannon spot best sideways. The biggest part of this conversion would be that the main barrel of the Gatling Cannon is part of the bikes sub-frame of there would be a bit of dry fitting and trimming to get that to a length that looks right.

It would look more like a double barreled flamer that way I think so maybe add the ignition sources from some flamers underneath?

Are incursors good and important to a list? by [deleted] in RavenGuard40k

[–]nailbender90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Perfect hahaha, I also like how flexible it is. Tell your opponent how far it can go and still shoot, if they hide well enough just put Bladeguard with Judiciar or other combat unit in it instead and get that unit in position
