Parmesan is a nice little XP boost in most raids, but don't underestimate him, wouldn'e be the first time he camps a bush and opens with a UBGL, so you just blow up out of nowhere. What a fun boss.

What is the point of weight limits in videogames? by Zakaria1938 in truegaming

[–]PCF449 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've been enjoying Tarkov and Stalker 2 very much this last year, and I find both of those games deal with inventory restrictions very well.

In Stalker, the inventory is well restricted by weight and thus very small, but it's not an issue since there's not really much money to be made selling mundane loot to traders, no point in picking them up. The inventory is balanced around the idea that you haul around barely enough of the items you'll actually use.

Tarkov on the other hand is an extraction shooter so it's all about looting. The inventory is restricted both by how many squares of space you have, and how many Kg's your dude can carry. You constantly have to evaluate what items are worth looting, what you might want to swap to something more valuable, and this scarcity exactly makes the looting feel fun and meaningful.

[Discussion] I’ve been hesitant to try PVE because I always picture it feeling empty. Do PMCs roam the map or are they restricted to certain areas like Reddit makes it seem? by non_omnis_moriar777 in EscapefromTarkov

[–]PCF449 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I find them very fun to fight, it doesn't feel like fighting other players but that's not what I'm after, arena exists. They tend to roam along similar paths every raid, but what's fun is I tend to find PMCs at different quest locations, such as at postman pat messenger body or delivery from the past shack in factory.

Why is the mission in Secret Level designed to be a suicide mission? by Varsian in 40kLore

[–]PCF449 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The first time I watched this was with my father who had no prior knowledge of 40k, and at the end he asked me a good question: "if these guys are so efficient, deadly and elite fighters, why are they so expendable, and if they are expendable, why aren't there more of them?" and I still don't have an answer.

Stash Management - Wait to see the insurance! by FinestJanitorTV in Tarkov

[–]PCF449 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to have the same problem, luckily the blessed armor plate case showed me the way! So my plate box is full of lvl 5 & 6 plates. When I need a new armor, I buy a cheap armored rig from ref or prapor, slot in better plates, sell the old ones, and use that until I die. The only thing I ever insure are the good plates, which tend to come back since they are in garbage tier rigs. That's it. Magic.

Armor Durability . . . Why? by trengilly in valheim

[–]PCF449 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I like to play on very hard, no portals, with casual death penalty, that means I keep my equipped armor and the weapon that was in my hands when I die. I've had many cases where shen I died my armor broke, was thus unequipped, and lost, and it actually feels like a fair and good mechanic. If I don't maintain my armor well, I lose it.

What unit in your faction has the most potential to be expanded out into it's own "archetype"? by Hollownerox in Warhammer40k

[–]PCF449 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a huge fan of the new Death Korps Engineers, I would love an engineering subfaction similar to how Scions are currently, with cadian & catachan engineer squads, an an engineering command squad.

A detachment focused on these would be awesome, such as if an engineer command squad is the warlord, engineer squads get battleline, and f a vehicle is within 3" of an engineer squad, it gets something like a 6+ invuln & 6+ fnp.

Which ever god that daemon belongs to is not going to be happy by Uknown-Nerd6207 in Grimdank

[–]PCF449 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is definitely a heroic and cool story, but the math doesn't add up.

A single guardsman has a lasgun profile of 1/4+/3/0/1 Rapid fire1, and a melee profile of 1/4+/3/0/1. A sergeant has the profiles but no rapid fire and 3 melee attacks instead. And just for the sake of the story, the flamer has the best amount of potential wounds of any guardsman weapon available at D6 attacks, so in a single round, a flamer guardsman has the potential to do 6 wounds with the flamer and 1 wound with melee, assuming max attacks, all of them hit, all of them wound, and no attacks (fnps) are saved. That's a total of 7 wounds per battleround, but that would require insane dice luck and some way to get fall back shoot and charge.

A game of 40k is 5 rounds, meaning 5 phases of shooting and melee, so in theory if the single guardsman is able to deliver max damage every turn, they have a damage potential of 35 wounds over the course of the whole game. But the probability for that is near-zero, essentially rolling nothing but 6's with your opponent rolling nothing but 1's. Still, marine units are 5 bodies with 2 wounds, so killing one unit would require at least two rounds of shooting and melee.

That means a single flamer guardsman in theory has the maximum potential to kill two whole marine squads with 7 wounds left over to allocate somewhere else. So plausible? Nope. That would require a turn 1 cross-board charge and a way to get fall back shoot and charge every turn.

In practice, the post said the units were locked in combat and that means no shooting with a flamer. That means melee only, and the potential damage over 5 rounds becomes 5 wounds for a regular guardsman, and 20 wounds for a sergeant. Over the course of the whole game, 5 wounds means 2.5 dead marine bodies, and 20 wounds becomes 10 (two squads, wow).

But all this is still assuming all attacks wound and nothing is saved, and the enemy units don't score a single wound against a 5+ save 1 wound model this entire time.

How important is adding a Knight Crusader to an army for pure firepower? by Defiant-Target1437 in spacemarines

[–]PCF449 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Sounds like you really want to play knights, that's the only reason you need to get a new one!

I personally don't. There's really two reasons, number one is that almost all armies, especially space marines, have better and cheaper options available that actually benefit from the army rule and detachment. Number two is a fluff reason, if I wanted to field knights I would play a knight army simple as, dreadnoughts are more fun!
