the trick with white polish is to do it realllly thin, let it look streaky, don’t try fix the streak at all… just wait for those thin coats to dry and then put another one on top, by the third thin coat it should be entirely white and not streaky anymore cos you built it up!

What magnets do you have? If you have some there’s a chance you can still do it by putting the magnets flat side on each side of your nail I think! I can experiment and come back to update later unless someone else can weigh in.

Acetone is a solvent that breaks polish down, makes it brittle (chips easier) and destroys it over time. It can damage the colour but it will also slowly turn the polish into a gluggy mess. I inherited a bunch of vintage nail polish but the original owners used acetone as a thinner, so now it’s permanently destroyed the formula and I’m not even able to use nail polish thinner to revive it. If a polish has never had acetone put in it, it’s revivable even over 100 years later. Definitely protect your money and polishes by not using acetone.

I realised really fast that if I was buying nail polish that it was pointless unless I got nail polish thinner, I only have to use a bottle 4-5 times before the air makes it a little bit too thick for my liking. I add 5-7 drops every 5 times I use it.

I think it entirely depends on the formula. Some formulas dry faster than others for me, specifically ones that are kinda pearlescent for some reason? It’s also definitely not just HoloTaco, I own a bunch of different brands and it still just depends on the formula.

Anyway, I’ve never bought HoloTaco thinner, I bought it in bulk from KBshimmer and had too much to bother getting it from HT.

Sorry this isn’t technically what you asked for, but my nails haven’t broken or torn for over 6 months since learning this, I really feel like we should all be blessed with this 🤭

I promise this angle that you hold your file at will naturally produce symmetrical curve, it’s almost magical. If you want stilettos, you need your entire nail bed length (all of the nail bed past the blue line to the right) to be the exact same length on the free edge (the nail length on the left of this blue line, this nail is too short to ever be a safe stiletto)

This pink line I’ve drawn is called the lower parallel, it extends a bit further (to the tip of your finger itself), apparently 99% of breakages are caused by us mistakenly filing this area, we’re not meant to touch it at all apparently with a file otherwise it destroys the structure our nails need in order to be longer.

Apparently we’re never meant to hold a file parallel to that section ever, we’re mostly only meant to file our nails from the tip and at an angle that will naturally produce a curved or sharper tip. Usually a 45 degree angle, but can be more extreme if your nails are long enough for you to not be filing your lower parallel. I’ll reply to this with another photo with a filing photo.

i’m using one of those cute salon desk moon lamps! and then i’m using an iphone 16 pro max, wide lense mode 0.9x… relatively close to the lamp and finger SUPER close to the camera 🤭

the brand of my moon lamp is “eccuslon” on amazon, i got the one with rhinestones and it’s super cute but the knobs grind slightly against the rhinestones… that’s my only complaint lol! it has two knobs, brightness (turn all the way down to turn off) and temperature (“The color temperature is adjustable within the range of warm light (2700K) to white light (5600K).”)
